Jerk bait setup.

Ok, I am throwing this out there for your thoughts.  I have watched Randy Blauket on YouTube talk about the importance of throwing the jerker on a spinning reel. I finally set up a spinning reel to give it a try, I have always used the bait caster.
Thoughts?

Baitcaster unless it is a small bait, then I use a spinning setup(usually trout or walleye).

I throw them on spinners.   I can fire them a lot farther on spinning gear.   And I like the smaller baits.   Primarily trout and smallies.

Randy Blauket is fake news lol . I do fine with a 6’10 med action rod and a bait caster . He also says he never stops moving the bait, which I completely disagree with .

Wears my wrist out throwing on spinning gear. I use a MegaBass Jerkbait Special baitcaster and have no complaints. I got a really good deal on it or i wouldnt have it

When the water is cold you have to soak them to get bit, or just get casting exercise.

I use a 6’6” med action bait caster also and love it - but hate to be missing out on something special with a spinning setup.

normal jerkbaits- Mcstik and up I throw on 6'6" baitcaster too. Can throw them all day no problem.

Small jerkbaits-(trout) I'm throwing on a 7' St. Croix spinning rod. Actually get tired fishing them in the wrist.  

Both are too long for me even being tall but I'm happy with what I have and wouldn't go any shorter I can splash a little bit at my feet.
