Now. Mehhh. av·id /ˈavəd/ adjective having or showing a keen interest in or enthusiasm for something. Well for someone having a keen interest and enthusiasm for it....he isn't catching on very fast at all. Any IT professional should know where to get good instructions for things like that. I'd put just about any 12 year old kid up against those efforts. snagged in outlet 3 1

I just can't let it go. The MDC is like a spoiled kid that gets a 2500.00 per week allowance, and it's like you're a jackass if you say anything dirogatory about them because.....Hey, at least they take out the trash once a week, and did pick a sock up off the floor a couple months ago. Give me a freakin' break! The entire organization could take a 3 year vacation and nobody would even notice their absence.

If people follow that guys advice and fail then less people will be fishing. Which I would personally like to happen. They should promote golf since it’s an outdoor activity😁 fishinwrench 1

I haven’t received or seen a copy in several years and forgot it even existed until you posted this. It’s cute but pointless. Just like fancy bluegill flies, cute but pointless. Those suckers will eat just about anything that moves.
jdmidwest Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 The Ed Story Crackleback is lots different than the Taneycomo ones I ran across 20 years ago tied with iridescent color and flash. Eds version from his pattern book, 1991 edition, used different materials. And, later in life, he changed from flyrite 41 olive dubbing to turkey shorts or something. His newsletters always carried the pattern in them. The Crackle back has been modified many times. It started as a dry wooly that could be floated, wetted and used as a wet fly, or drifted wet and weighted as a nymph. It was a multi-use pattern. I used the Crackleback style with reversed palmered saddle hackles over a body of yellow micro chenille and a 2 stripe of peacock herl as a go to panfish fly for gills. I could grease it and use it dry. Worked well. Smallies would take to it from time to time also. BilletHead Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 I am having a hard time here wondering why all you prefect guys are doing all this bashing? Do you realize there are some in this world not so perfect as you? Do you know most of the readers of the conservationist magazine have neither hunted of fished? We all started somewhere, right? Can you remember your first attempts at tying flies? Were you perfect? Did this guy proclaim to be an expert or share his sport with others? I can tell you my first attempt at tying. Winter of 75 moved to Missouri. Spent first Christmas in an old house with a trailer attached and got a fly-tying kit. I proceeded to read instructions and tie away. To me it was beautiful looking back it was a mess. Did not even have a fly rod. Went to the little pond on the place and threw out sticks and rocks to break a hole in the ice in the middle. Took me awhile to get the split shotted fly into that hole and lost some flies getting it there. I actually caught bluegill and green sunfish doing that. I still have that vice to this day. That has been a long time ago and I am still not perfect or claim to be. I bet the conservation mag will take stories from anyone here. So, if you want get one written and submit! You all sometimes remind me of a bunch of juvenile jake turkeys. One gets shot and another begins to jump on him. Soon the others join in and trample the dead bird not thinking about anything else . I do jest with my friends here but not going to get into the jake mentality. So just because it's FISHING the MDC should be ok with printing and spreading advice from just anybody? Was there any mention about sunglasses and eye protection while fly fishing? If you wanna be helpful (a "mentor" to use your words) to someone just getting into the sport then begin by teaching them the IMPORTANT stuff. Be responsible about it, or send them in a direction where you know they'll get QUALITY advice. If an IT guy wants to give fly tying advice.....Then just suggest one of the many TRULY GOOD YouTube channels....and save the ink and paper that YOU and I are paying for.
