Crude reality: One U.S. state consumes half the oil from the Amazon rainforest (msn.com)

California has some of the toughest environmental laws in the country making it nearly impossible to supply energy within the state. So one would suspect that they are fairly green. Nope! They outsource their energy needs from border states for electricity and seemingly oil from the Amazon.

Absolutely not surprising.  Its all a slight of hand just like electric vehicles currently.  Sure, your electric car does not emit carbon monoxide, but what goes into building and charging them is crazy

Not to mention the disposal when you are done with it.

Make no qualms about it I don't think EV's are arm and legs above combustion from a green standpoint but ultimately at some point we are going to run out of oil(probably not in your life and maybe not in mine).

We pour oil on the ground, chemicals, fertilizers, landfills all over the place(Bridgeton anyone?), terrible at recycling items we actually can, burn trash, throw all sorts of electronics and batteries away in the trash but dang all of a sudden EV disposal matters.

predicting that the "disposal of batteries" will be an ecological disaster about 15 to 25 yrs from now. Right now I think that thailand and other countries receive all of this trash.

Recycling of those batteries is going to be big business once lithium because scarce.

I think China used to buy too.   Crazy to think we ship trash around the globe...
