I have Costas.  They never leave the truck.  My daughter bought me 2 pairs of sun glasses with bifocals at Wally World.  I’m on the third year with the first pair.  The second is in reserve waiting.  My Costas cost near $200.  Those Wally’s cost $20 each.

Glass costas is the only way to go

I like Costas just fine.  Recently had to replace a pair stolen off the dock at Truman.  They were maybe 7 years old and good as new.

Maui Jims are every bit as good.   Prefer the fit of the Jims.

I keep a pair of amber and a pair of gray for different light conditions.   Always glass.

Clean them with the spray and microfiber cloth they come with.

I currently own 4 pairs of Costa Blokes, all glass, 2 green, 1 blue, 1 silver.  They are ok, do not see fish as well as my old Hobies.  They are ok, except service (that's how I ended up with 4) 1 pair with defective nose piece, less than a year old, when returned they said lenses faded, replaced for $90, next pair blue, while in Florida fell off my head, small chip in lens, my fault, sent in several weeks later they replaced for $120.  When/if I need another pair will certainly look elsewhere.  Liked the maui jims but could not find any large enough for my big melon. But the eye relief on the water of the Costa is excellent, have had 6 surgeries on my left eye so relief is important to me.

I've had great luck with Maui Jim's.  I've got two pair for fishing, both with bronze glass lenses...one of them being 20 years old and the lenses are still perfect.  I have a third pair with the blue glass lenses that are kinda do-all glasses.   Great product for sure

I have a pair of Maui's that are at least ten years old and are as good as new.  I wear them for driving and outdoor stuff like baseball games, backyard get togethers, etc.  Really good shades.  I also have a pair of Oakley Shallow Water Blue wraparound vented lenses that are seven or eight years old that I love for fishing and boating in general but the coating y'all described is beginning to crack and wear.

I have a pair of Oakley Prism golf specific that I wear, well, for golf that are five or six years old and they are starting to show signs of wear too but then they get worn far and away the most of the bunch.

I tried last year replacing the Shallow Water Blue lens with the Deep Water Blue that came with the frames as they were brand new and unused but they're just too dark for me.

Since having Lasik surgery twenty some years ago my distance vision was 20/10 and 20/15 but my dim light vision went totally to crap and the dark lenses just don't work for me as a result.  I've also always needed reading glasses but man I could see like a hawk otherwise.  All the old guys always wanted to be in my group on the golf course cause nobody ever lost a ball!

Compounding that issue, I had cataract surgery on my right eye last February and the dim light vision is even worse.  I'm scheduled to have the left eye done next month and hopefully it turns out better than the right cause if not my days of night driving are over.  The good news is that with the PanOptix multifocal lens I no longer need forty pair of read cheaters laying all over the place so I guess everything has a tradeoff.

Hilarious, and quite true...a golf partner with an eagle eye is never the last guy called to join a foursome.   Good luck with the upcoming procedure 🤞

Thanks!  I'm sure it will be fine.  Just kinda tuff to return to mere mortal status after being the virtual Greek god of sight for so long!

It really is pretty amazing what they can do and how they do it although sometimes it takes a tweak or two.  They had to do two followup laser procedures before they finally got mine right.

Apparently I developed some astigmatism after the initial surgery that had to be corrected.  Then they overcorrected the correction and had to laser it again to correct the incorrect correction!

Or something like that.....🙄

First my near vision went, then my far vision, then it got dark.  I got the symfony tecnis lens.  It was like someone turned on the lights.  Everything was so bright at first I wore sunglasses inside.
It’s been two years and I don’t need any glasses at all.  But!   I have halo’s, floaters and dry eyes occasionally.
I don’t need readers, I can see to tie a knot and the lure flying through the air.  Same with golf.   See the ball on the tee and in the air.  I doubt I could’ve played golf with the glasses.  No way to look through the bottom to see it on the tee and then look through the top after I hit it.
I hope your other eye turns out better.

Speaking of disappearing golf balls, one of the trails I get my exercise walks on parallels a stretch of one of the local courses.  I can usually get a ball or three that are laying around near the trail, I've probably found a couple hundred.  Some of them are just laying there in the short grass, all I can figure is that people hit them, lose sight of them and then can't find them or don't bother to look for them.  Saves me some money for the few times I golf as I am a complete hack and usually hit several deep into the woods when I play.  And no way I'm going into the AR woods in the summer time dressed in shorts looking for a ball.
