I cleaned our freezer out once and found we were over the possession limit, so now if we don't eat the stockers right away I feed the cats.   I guess it would be a violation to can them or preserve them for later too.  Back in the '60s my aunt pressure canned trout all summer (and any other fish or game ) and they ate fish patties through the winter, looking  back I wonder if they were poachers then or if laws have been changed regarding possession.

Possession limits are an ignorant regulation to begin with.

It's ok to give it away..... but illegal to preserve and keep it.    How freakin' stupid is that?

Too bad they couldn't have enacted a possession limit on toilet paper during the dreaded pandemic.

My wife keeps more than her limit on tp all the time.  Actually all staples like that.  She grew up way out of town on a farm so unless she has a stockpile in the basement she just can’t sleep 😂.   Good woman!!

I understand the idea of poaching and selling, but to make it worth while, is a serious chore.  Some may do it for a few extra bucks, but to make enough money to survive,  you are going to be noticed.   I don't think it is happening that much large scale.  I cant believe our lakes could support it.  The poachers are not getting the end price as their pay.  Just as farmers are not getting the equivalent end price at the grocery stores.

Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. (me)

I don't think most criminals have the work ethic to make living poaching fish, if they did they would be working at something that paid better. Are the signs/markets in the images even in the USA? It looks like Asian writing on the signs?  and what is a bigmouth?

Pessimism is not a trait most people aspire to, but maybe they should. It's often associated with negativity, a "half-full" attitude, depression, and other mood disorders. However, a healthy dose of negative thinking isn't necessarily all bad. ... In fact, sometimes a little pessimism might actually be a good thing.

Pessimists are extremely good at taking precautions. Because they expect things to go wrong, they play it safer too. They are the ones planning contingencies, buying insurance and thinking way into the future.

See, that's where I disagree with a lot of people who blunder into trouble, that Murphy that made the law was a danged optimist, not a pessimist.  Nothing wrong with a backup plan or several.
