Kelly Gallup and gunnar brammer as well as Brian wise are all good resources for technique. Same with tightline

I've learned so much from Tim Flagler. He produces some of the best fly tying videos out there in my opinion. Your flies look good Daryk! I've learned that fly tying is like reloading....you don't save any money by making your own, but you get to produce everything specifically to meet your needs...AND it's a lot of fun in the process.

10000% agree. He's also quick and to the point if you don't like to listen to Kelly ramble on for 45 min.

Kelly has forgotten more about fly tying than I will ever know, but he does like to ramble lol. I can't remember which video it was, but he actually mentioned that in one of his videos. Said people complained about how long his videos were. But then he said he didn't care enough about the reviews to edit his videos to be any shorter HA!

Seen and watched him tie in person at a fly shop. Up close and personal. He is not so boring then :)

Oh I don't think he's boring at all. He's quite a character. As a matter of fact, I just watched a couple of Galloup's videos today about picking mallard flank feather.

I just meant from an instructional perspective, I like the direct approach of Flagler.

He does drag things out on video to me. Just it's much better in person. Have watched quite a few of his videos.

Tonight's fly, well, a week ago Thursday's fly was wooly bugger.  I was not able to tie along as we were out of town.  Luckily for me the classes are saved and accessible at a later date.  We missed one week due to the current events.  The fly was/is Chernobyl Ant, and was to be tied a day or two after the invasion.  We will be tying it in a few weeks.  But for now, here is my wooly bugger.

Nice Daryk. Have you gone out and caught any fish with your flies? Would like to see them if you have already or when you do.

I am seeing some real progress, Daryk! Small tight heads and good proportions.  I like John am wanting to see you get out and catch with the flies you have crafted. Keep us in the loop.

No, it has been a little while since I've been. Seems when I have an hour or so free, it is still muddy and the creek banks are steeper than last year.  I have a pond near me, but I really dont see anyone catch much except in July when it is stocked for a kids derby.  I will post when I do get to try them.  Ideally I want to try them at a trout stream, instead of a muddy creek.
