The literal brains of the Current river brown trout & Black river Walleye program back in those days was a good friend of mine.  He hurt his back while on the job.....and because he ONCE (long before) had some weed in one of the trucks and was reprimanded for it, they (MDC) denied his workman's comp.....which financially ruined him for life.  He worked for MDC for a LONG TIME, practically his whole working life....and they took a dump on him only when it was convenient for THEM.   Because of something 6-7 years prior.

The douchebags on the cafe (including a couple that I believe are among us here) 100% backed up MDC on that decision, several of them saying what a worthless pothead he was, and that he deserved it.   🙄

Left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Daryk, sorry for the sidetrack on your thread.  That canoe is dead nuts beautiful.  Can't wait to see it on the water and hear about how it handles.

Sorry @Daryk Campbell Sr.  That is a work of art.

I appreciate that,  but, I'm not new here.   I'm sure I've hijacked and sidetracked a few over the years.  Sometimes the new conversations are better than the original.

I really hope to inspire someone else to do something that you want, but are hesitating.  Whether it's a canoe,  which is how I found OAF believe it or not, flint knapping,  bee keeping,  photography,  cooking, lure building etc.

We have many talents within the group.  I would love to see more posts of what interests people have.

Not to side track again... but I was also a member of the Conservation Cafe.  On all forums I have ever joined I used the same name Linhardt.  Met a lot of people of that site at get togethers, buying/selling stuff, or hunting and fishing with them.  Lot of conversations and fun had back then.

Yeah it doesn't take long for a thread here to turn from rod-building/fly tying.....to a discussion on the fastest way to get rid of a case of crabs. 👍

That's why I love this place. 😉It's just like hanging out in my shop.

Update.   Today I dry fit the seat, so that I could drill the holes it will hang from, and protect them wirh varnish along wirh the inside.   I've installed the outer gunwales,  and the decks.   The decks kinda took the arrowhead shape on their own.  I did file them down to allow water to escape since I did not cut scupper into the inner gunwales.   First coat of varnish applied this evening.
