Lots of good info here-

Take what I’m saying with many grains of salt, but I’ve found Sunline Sniper fluorocarbon in 7 pound test to be MUCH more forgiving than Invisix or any of the other fluorocarbon I’ve tried.

I may revisit braid to leader some this year, but I hate leader knots, and wind knots have been a problem with every braid I’ve ever tried. I didn’t hate nanofil, but was never 100 percent sold on its abrasion resistance.

My only gripe with Sunline Sniper on spinning tackle is that they quit making it in the green color.

That would be awesome.

Anyone and I mean ANYONE that is not using 5# Maxima on their spinning gear for a Ned or a small Swim bait up to 3.3 inch and a 1/4 oz. head can do way better.

ZERO memory simi-small diameter and strong as well rope. It will also cast a country mile.

Same breaking strength as 8# Excel.  I’ve put it to the test.

Good Luck

If I was looking for a skinny 8 lb mono, I’d be all set.

If you're not using s.o.s line in 4# you're missing out on fish.  I've run it side by side with maxima for a few years now and it's better and cheaper.  I use it for small jerkbaits too.  If you upsize to the 6# line you can basically forget about breaking off, you'll just bend hooks out.  That said the 4 pound is more manageable and more than strong enough.

I love their 2 lb. I was going to get some 4 lb soon.

The 2# is fantastic as well.  I use it often for casting 1/64th oz jigs, but out of laziness/convenience I usually just have the 4# on most of my spinning outfits.

Yeah, I don’t know how the diameter compares to more popular line or it’s break strength compared to 4 lb Trielene XL, but I do know that the 2 lb SOS has been a good line for me that casts well and has Good abrasion resistance.

An old retired guide who catches giant trout told me years ago about Maxima. I put line conditioner on it, sometimes I will drag it behind the boat leaving the dock. It always treated me well and I'll be spooling some 6 and 8 tomorrow when I work on tackle.

I've been using the Sunline Sniper  #7 for years on my straight fluorocarbon spinning setups. Got a 15 pound flathead that ate a drop shot out of a tree with it, figured if it's  good enough for that, it's good enough.

Thanks for all the input.  I bought some of the 5# Maxima and like it and so far no tangles.  Also still like the Nanofil. I will be buying some .008 dia. braid in the next Tackle Warehouse order - probably Suffix 832.

Thanks again,

Bobby
