fishinwrench Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 Taking guns away, even if attempting to do so was effective, is not going to eliminate crime and murder. I'd rather have to deal with an active shooter situation than to be in an area when a bomb goes off, or some other type of chemical assault. It's actually a good thing that when some crazy person decides to kill people that grabbing a "gun" is their first thought. Maverickpro201 and Hawg 2
snagged in outlet 3 Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 This guy has some interesting statistics about gun crime that I think get swept under the rug.

MOPanfisher Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 My thoughts, and they are worth exactly what you have paid me for them. First it is hard to fault to the reason for the framework for gun control, to reduce the number of mass shootings. Of course all things proposed by government are to make things better, few actually work out that way. The framework as does very little. I have zero problem with raising the age limit to purchase a semi auto rifle to 21. The whole you can join the army at 18 and have full auto weapons, yes you can, you also have a drill sergeant and later a platoon sergeant and a whole group if people training, watching you, you don't have that in private life. Ban of "assault weapons" is pointless, over 100 million in use now, and confiscating them would start a civil war immediately, nobody wants that. High capacity magazines same thing. Red flag laws, sounds good on the surface but how would it be implemented. If I remember correctly the Florida nightclub shooter was on an FBI no fly list, every one wanted to use that list, FBI said NO, their list does not have any judicial overview meaning they can add anyone they want with no proof of anything. If a red flag law was implemented more like a "no contact" order, meaning it was filed legally and went to a judge to decide if valid and for how long then due process has been observed, along with that comes the requirement that the individual be notified and have the right to appeal. Universal background check, if I wanted to sell Billethead my AR just who would I go through to check his background? If I could do it simply then no problem, but I don't see it being that easy, but hiw would anyone know if I sold it to him 10 years ago or this week. The other part of gun control measures is that are they changes which protected from further changes, are they set unless further legislation is passed or can one of the letter agencies make "policy changes. Overall we do have some gun control measures, no constitutional right is without its limits, and I don't have a problem with logical, purposeful measures, but doubt that many who are fully supportive of gun control would agree with me on what is logical and purposeful. I will always say that when you see anything hotly debated in congress it is more about political points i.e. re election or fund raising, than about doing anything useful to the citizenry as a whole. Wadda ya got, how much, what caliber, no printed ghost parts either! In all seriousness I would say you would have to go through a firearms dealer and pay him to run the check. I know I bought a couple of shotguns from my brother who lived in Omaha and since he was out of state, he had to do just that. Had a friend in Eldorado springs who ran a gun shop so no biggie and did it for free. The next time we just well yea we did another route. snagged in outlet 3 Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 If some people want gun control let them do it themselves. STL has gun buyback all the time downtown. Just go give your guns to them. Hawg 1
Gavin Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 My right & ease of access to firearms & ammo v. hurdles to stop the stupid, untrained & the insane. Maybe folks should have to pass weapons ed class? It could not hurt.
