What if it was your favorite fishery ?

You all wouldn't take this so lightly.

We protect ponds better than upper lake Taneycomo.

Look, we pay for the fish that are raised and stocked there ALMOST DAILY.   We pay the salary of everyone that manages the place.   And we pay the salary of the ones whose job it is to enforce the regulations.

Why don't you use that phone that you're pecking on to call MDC and tell THEM how "underwhelmed" you are.    They claim to welcome any and all comments and feedback, so I'm sure they'd love to hear from you.  And if things don't change fast enough.....just keep calling.   👍

FWIW: If its not the foreigners that cant read bait fishing, then its the Amish. If its not the Amish, its the church fish fry's. If its not the church fish fry's, its the giggers. If its not the giggers, then its the otters.  Heck we haven't even gotten to the Deer/Elk resources vs. fishing resources yet.

Its the same song and dance. Different stream, different lake same discussion.

How do we know these big fish collecting dead in the deep pools are from bait fishing and not playing fish out on 7x tippet?

Or using a 3 wt like I saw the other day. "Landed this nice 24-inch brown on a 3 wt!" Nice, man. Nice.

See dead fish in the water every single time I go to RRSP and it's worst during in the C&R season. I have come to believe cameras kill more trout than bait, but "playing"  the fish might kill more than cameras. Rubber nets take their share too, because it takes the average user so much longer to get control of a slimy fish in a slippery net. Trout drown pretty quickly in a net waving around in the air.

I suggest trying this

I really could not care less anymore,  I’m just out there to enjoy my day not play fish/duck/deer cop. I usually set my sights on less crowded areas with people I know. Life is good when it rolls with few shenanigans.

This ☝️

Besides, I'm not gonna sit here and pretend that I never bended (or downright broke) a rule or a law in my life.

I'll tell you that I'm a fine upstanding citizen NOW...... but I can't look you in the eyes and say that I've ALWAYS been.  😔

To come crashing down on somebody else, and making a federal case about it, would be kinda hypocritical wouldn't it?

This is a perfect example of the whole BEING REAL code that I live by......that several of you hate on me for.    Whatev.....🤷‍♂️

I agree with you fully.   I do.   But while you were gone for a while and before you left, these discussions have been argued, fought,  and we've lost alot of good contributing members due to different interpretations of what May be, Could be, Should be, Can be, etc done to fix any waterway.  Feelings have been hurt.  I see your desire to make a change.  The positive support IS underwhelming.   But we just can't come to a good clear result.

My local water has been getting decimated by Asian Carp.  To the extent that I bought a bowfishing outfit, and learned how to.make my own arrows a couple years ago.   I have not shot it once.  Why?  Ethics.  But my ethics may differ from everyone else.  That's why I love this place.  I understand the dead fish really take a toll.  But unless you can with out a doubt, and with adequate proof,  determine how each individual fish died we are at a stalemate.

I appreciate your stance.  I'm not  against you,  and most on here want better fishing everywhere.   But instead of feeling like you are alone,  try to find another angle.   This is Ozark ANGLERS Forum.

This may be the meds talking.  I'm not one to write so much.

The problem has absolutely nothing with the people of this forum. The problem with these issues is enforcement. You can make all the signs you want, in all the languages you want, but without someone enforcing the laws it doesn't matter. It's just wasted chatter. And coming here looking for everyone to jump on your bandwagon is preaching to the choir. If you can't get the agents to write the tickets you will never fix anything. And in reality it's not fixing anything, it's just moving that poacher to someone else's backyard.

I wonder, has anyone done a study on lifespan of trout in that fishery, and could those dead fish be natural mortality? I've read that stocked rainbow trout can live three to five years, and if there is strict catch and release practiced, with 100% survival, after that three to five years there should be a whole year class of dying/dead fish, shouldn't there?
