Terrierman Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 I just ate my first ever What A Burger for lunch. It will be my last. Talk about a nothing special over hyped fast food hamburger. I read that people drove from hours away and got in line for them at 5:00 AM when they first opened here. Now that's having nothing to do. Most fast food burgers fit the same mold of being something to eat to keep from going hungry - but of them all I'll take Wendy's. Carry on. Daryk Campbell Sr, bfishn, Quillback and 2 others 5
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 I had no clue Whataburger had such a following until i saw them making a flow chart on the news for traffic opening day. Terrierman 1
bfishn Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 We just finished HVAC on new WBs in Fort Smith and Poteau, OK. I've not eaten at either and doubt I ever will. "Nothing special" is an overstatement. Johnsfolly and Quillback 2 I can't dance like I used to.
oneshot 1 Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Use to go to Whataburger back in the 60's. Could get a huge Burger for $1. But could get Mc Donald's Burgers for far less. oneshot
netboy Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Having lived in Corpus Christi, TX for 20 years, which was where Whataburger was founded in 1950 and its corporate headquarters for many years, I have eaten many a Whataburger. You couldn't drive a mile in Corpus and not see a Whataburger store. I still prefer them to the other fast food burger joints such as McDonalds, Burger King, Sonic, Hardys or Wendys. With that said, I hope they open one here in the Mountain Home area, but I am not gonna wait in a long line for one.

There are a few in the Kansas City area now, and each opening had press coverage, the huge lines, redirected traffic, etc. Silly. We were out one evening last month and happened to drive by one. There wasn't a line so we went through the drive thru. First off, it took a really long time to get through with only a couple cars ahead of us. And...it was just a fast food burger, like all the rest. I wouldn't bother to go again. Do you guys have Freddy's down your way? They do a good smash burger, shoestring fries and fry sauce. nomolites 1 John

ollie Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 I have eaten at a Whataburger in three different states, and I thought the same thing about each visit. What is so great about it? Nothing as far as I can tell. I know a LOT of people swear by them, but for the life of me I don't understand why. MOstreamer and Terrierman 2 "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
