I used to have a neighbor that was in his mid-80''s and was always doing things that he had no business doing.

Rescued him from the roof of his house once because he decided to clean his chimney.....with a garden hoe and a log chain.

Had to drag him out from under the crawlspace of his house, by his heels, because he decided to re-rout a drain pipe.

Got trapped under a tractor tire and the fire dept. had to save him after he replaced an axle seal in his old Case tractor.

It was always something.   The old dude just couldn't chill on his porch and stay out of trouble.    And he'd always cuss you like a pregnant step-child the whole time you were saving him.

"Sit down and shut up, Earl ! Goddammit!"

My kind of guy!

Get a small bull pup and run the mini shells in it.   My wife has a KSG12 I bought her and it's lightweight and minimal recoil with the mini shells.

That is more for Home Defense.  Never  considered hunting with mine.

The best gun for "home defense" is the one your most familiar with, and used to.   The majority of people only handle their "tactical weapons" a few times after they first get them......then they just sit in their hiding place.

When the real need arises you might as well grab a can opener or apple peeler. 🙄

This one is not really all that complicated....

Yelp and it's loaded and ready go.

No need for loaded guns in my house. I actually forbid it.

My home is equipped with a UT-BYD (ULTRA TACTICAL-BIG YELLOW DOG) that goes berserk and alerts everyone in the house if so much as a possum enters the yard at 3:am.    So there's always plenty of time to prepare for a home invasion.

The UT-BYD has 3 automatic sensitivity warning levels.

Code White- (prancing whine from window to window) = Critter or neighborhood pet.

Code Blue- (whine, bark, whine, bark, whine, & stares at the door) = Someone he loves and is anxious to play with.

Code Red- (deep elongated growl, hair on back elevated, goes rapidly back & forth from my location to whatever side of the house the intruder is currently at. Intensity and volume of growl increases the longer he goes ignored) = Something or someone unknown and in need of inspection.

Works equally well even during power outages.   Hands down the best home security system ever !  👍

Use that shotgun for hogs and critters at night.  Only reason it has a red dot on it,  is for shooting under NV.

The mini shells have less power than full 00 buck, but they still kill stuff just fine.

I use to like a 20ga. With no Choke. It was great for Rabbits and Quail.  Had Full I would use for Turkeys.

That's another thing if I set on the ground I can't get up.

I just thought I would use a Shotgun because I don't have to hold it as steady.

But I remember right I hate going from Shotgun to Rifle because it got me to jerking.

I have plenty of rounds for  .22 and it's hard finding Shotgun Shells so should just stay with what's working.

I can cut a Walking Stick, leave a fork in the end and little fork about 5 foot up. Should work for walking stick and rest for my rifle.
