When I hunted birds we would see them along river bottoms.  I only ever shot one.  I served it alongside quail.  It must have been eating mud as 5 people tried it and there was timberdoodle left over.

I have lost many nights sleep due to whip poor wills.  I try not to hold grudges against wildlife especially when I'm in their territory.   I try not to.

There’s a bunch of them at a farm I ride by on the Katy Trail along the Missouri River.   They get away occasionally and wander into nearby subdivisions.   But if you ride up on one and they didn’t see you they scream so loud it’s crazy.

I love them when out camping. But I don't usually have a problem sleeping with them doing their thing.

If you yell at them they'll shut right up.  You don't even have to cuss if you don't want to.

You could even add a prayer into it.....

"PLEASE!   FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, and in Jesus name.....SHUT THE HELL UP !!!"

You'll be granted 15-20 minutes of total silence.....Now go to sleep, lamb chop. 😴
