I've had too many weird break off with straight braid. Touch a taught piece of braid with a sharp knife and then do the same thing with mono or fluoro and see which one cuts the easiest. The braid will cut with hardly any pressure and the fluoro/mono takes more effort.

Yep.   I've wrestled big bass over old rusty cables with fluorocarbon and just knew that 5' of that line would be totally trashed.....only to run it through my fingers afterwards and not be able to find a single frayed spot.   👍 

It's good stuff !

I use fluoro all the time, braid to fluoro leader and just about all my bottom dragging c-rig, jig and t-rig stuff.  It's no more maintenance than mono.  I use Seaguar.  No drama at all.  Palomar knots are easy to tie.

I'll use mono for top water and moving baits.  I like Maxima.  

I have tried straight braid with jigs and ned rigs, it catches fish, but that is the one line I have abrasion problems with fishing rocky lakes like TR and Beaver.  Because of that, I have gone to fluoro leaders.  I know that others have been able to fish straight braid on dragging techniques on these lakes, but it had not worked for me.

Only tougher east side smallmouth carry the knives! The west siders carry insults and swim to their safe place! 😂

I use straight invisix fluoro and fluoro leader with braid.   Never had any problems with it.  Never had problems with vanish or red label either.  It’s just too stiff.   Palomar or shark knot and crazy Alberto.  Lotta spit😂

Extrusion, Extrusion, winding, trying to imagine the manufacturing process…crazy stuff. In awe 🫢 of the process…what’s next? I just need an unbreakable supple line that’s fairly invisible then I’ll be happy

At the end of this I’m going 100% double Pittzen. And chose a fluoro that’s around .014-.016” diameter for my bait casters and about an 8 pound maxima or Trilene XL for my spinning rod.
