I mean wasn't a Lithium power cell (thermal runaway) at least partially responsible for the Challenger space shuttle catastrophe? They can't (or shouldn't) just be used without constant monitoring and proper control.

Absolutely not. Power had zero to do with that failure. You starting to sound like Trump.

Anyone driving a VW is very un American. Biggest POS company there is.

I used to be hard core buy American until GM shut my plant down and gave me the privilege of packing it up to send it Mexico.  After seeing the experience my friends and family have with Toyota, including resale.  I’ll stick with them.   My ram 2013 1500 has been a very good vehicle.   187000 miles on it.

Plenty of "deep dives" have been done, since they are great for cordless tools and cell phones.  But once you get into bigger stuff like golf carts, trolling motors, and (god forbid) full size cars & trucks.... I think you cross the line on what is actually safe & smart.

Some things look great on paper, but in the real world of hillbillies and Rube Goldberg types...... you're just begging for trouble.

Large voltage capacity lithium cells are kinda in the same category as dynamite, mortar shells, and other things that you can't just pick up at the local Farm & Home.   I mean wasn't a Lithium power cell (thermal runaway) at least partially responsible for the Challenger space shuttle catastrophe? They can't (or shouldn't) just be used without constant monitoring and proper control.  And even with constant monitoring and proper control......things can go bad wrong.

I thought Space Shuttle catastrophe was from a bad gasket?

Curious why they’re any different than any other Euro car builder?

It was -- a gasket (or, O-ring) on solid rocket booster that didn't seal properly partly due to cold weather.

Programming the CO2 testing software to understate the emissions so they'd be in compliance with law maybe?

They were caught lying about emissions that gave them an unfair market advantage over every other car manufacturer. There’s a pretty good documentary about it. They were fined for it but no compensation for the consumer or competition. And they had zero remorse. Pretty much paid the US government off to continue doing business here. Another reason to not trust any politician.
