Let's talk about colonoscopies

The "poop in the box thing" is a lot like a home sleep study. Basically a money grab, if its inconclusive or says you have sleep apnea more than likely have to go in for the real deal

I was never completely out for my first one more than 20 years ago.  I could hear the doctor and nurse talking, but couldn't move or feel anything, or say anything.  It was weird.

Second one, at age 60, I was completely out and was surprised when I woke up that I was completely out.

Third one, at age 70 (last year), I knew what to expect.  However, in waiting for the anesthesiologist to show up to knock me out, lying all hooked up to the monitors, my occasional irregular heartbeat took that time to make an appearance, showing up on the monitor for the first time after a half dozen tests and examinations. It didn't concern anybody, as I'd been told before, so it was kinda nice to have it more or less confirmed.

So I go in last year, after the colonoscopy, to my regular doctor, and he's looking over my charts on his computer.  He says, "Oh, yes, I see you got your colonoscopy and everything was fine.  Well, that will probably be the last one you'll get."  We had been talking about my age, and I must have looked a little startled, because I was thinking, "Is he saying I'm gonna die before I need another one in 10 years?"  He hastily added, "Oh, I mean we usually don't recommend having one after age 75...I didn't mean you were gonna die in the next 10 years!"

So can one of y'all explain to me WHY you expect to have all these organ failures?  

You expect your colon to crap out, you expect your heart to crap out, you expect your pancreas to go south, ect.ect.   So you schedule all these periodic check-ups so that if any minor imbalance is detected then it can be rectified early, right?   Before any actual symptoms are noticable?   

So anybody that comes down with a health issue is themselves AUTOMATICALLY TO BLAME for not being tested sooner?   So don't expect there to be a quality physician available to help you !   It's your fault because you didn't take preventative measures!  🧐

Is that the mindset that all of you have adopted?

There's one organ that nobody here ever seems to suspect a problem with....but that I'm rather concerned about.    And that's your BRAIN. 😅  Let's face it....that particular organ has been fed more unhealthy crap over the past 30-some years, than all your other organs combined!

Thankfully I was concieved prior to Woodstock, so I think some Falstaff and Walkers Deluxe are the only thing clouding my purity.  👍

I don't blame anyone for what they do or don't do health wise.  I get checked out and if nothing is found, I'm out the door feeling good.  If something pops up, I'll cross that bridge, but until then, I'll keep on keeping on.  After a little more coffee, I'm going to hook the boat up and hit the road.

Next time I am around an anesthesiologist I need to remember to ask them if they get comedy training in med school.  They are always joking around when they are getting ready to put you under.
