tjm Posted November 13 Posted November 13 You would think any big hospital would have a surgeon capable of hand repair, but when I put my fingers through a table saw years ago, there were no hand surgeons in all of NWA nor two hospitals in Joplin nor in Springfield, the folks at St. Johns (I guess that's Mercy now) finely located one in Tulsa, after many calls. I'd say you were danged lucky that surgeon wasn't on vacation. Strange to think such a wound gives no pain, but my cut was the same, I guess the brain shuts off the pain receptors at some level. Quillback Posted November 13 Posted November 13 I saw Marty's hand at the Squirrel Cookoff. The recovery was amazing, you'd never think it was as bad as it was. BilletHead 1
ollie Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Graphic Pic, count me in. Those things don't bother me when I see them. Although that is a very nasty cut indeed. Glad you are alright and hopefully on the mend and getting better. You might lose some feeling there if you haven't already. That will definitely take some time to heal. You cleaned it up pretty well though I will give you that. Foghorn Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Ouch! Guess that will require some rehab? I cut about a quarter of an inch off my left ring finger in the ninth grade in a woodworking class. It was the semifinals of the conference tournament in basketball. My parents came and took me to the emergency room where my Dad asked the attending nurse "will he be able to play the piano again?' She said "of course he will." and he said "that's great, he never could before". My woodworking days pretty much ended that day. Hope you have a speedy recovery. Ryan Miloshewski Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Tis but a flesh wound! Gnarly. Glad it's healing. Here's a good one. Shooting a scoped pistol..screw was sticking out too far and I held it like a moron. Recoil got me. Finger was broken and the ER doctor at Golden Valley in Clinton used the wrong stitches and didn't put vaseline down before be wrapped it. Gauze was glued to the wound. I was living in St. Louis at the time for a year for work. When I got back that Monday I saw the hand surgeon. "Well, this is going to really hurt." I don't think I've yelled that loud ever from pain. When I walked out into the lobby the patients waiting had a horrified look on their faces. Took a while to heal and I have a nasty scar from the ER doc messing it up. But, my fault. ness Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Once I was slicing up a radish. It rolled on me and I nicked the tip of my fingernail. Just like @BilletHead no pain! BilletHead 1 John
