This past summer I was fishing with my neighbor in his Ranger. He kept insisting I should drive it. I got it on plane about 35 MPH or so. He said to "give it the gas" So I did and I was white knuckled. I looked down and we were only going 48 MPH. I said I'm good. He laughed and said there's plenty more if you want. I passed.....😆 Felt like a hundred. Quillback, Daryk Campbell Sr and Terrierman 2 1
Flysmallie Posted yesterday at 01:22 AM Posted yesterday at 01:22 AM When I was in my early twenties my dad had a Champion that cruised really well between 77 and 82. He never drove it that fast and I never didn’t drive it that fast. I was never smart enough to be scared of speed on the water. He eventually traded it for a newer but much slower boat. I’m pretty sure he thought I was going to die in the other one. I think he died believing that was the reason I quit tournament fishing. It had nothing to do with it but I don’t think he ever truly believed me. Quillback and BilletHead 2
fishinwrench Posted yesterday at 06:22 AM Posted yesterday at 06:22 AM Back in my younger & stupider days I built a screaming hot Evinrude 235 and sold it to a dude that wanted it installed on a 17' Ranger. After installing it I took the rig and 4 different props out for some runs to PROP IT OUT and to set the jackplate. Once I felt that I had it set up, as good as I could get it, I cracked her wide open and just let her wind up real good.....Holy Mother Of God ! 😬 When I set that boat back down it bow-hooked, I over compensated, and ejected myself over the port side into 48° water. When I climbed back into the boat I hooked the kill switch back up and tried to restart it.....Nope. Dead. The battery had come loose and ripped the terminal off the cable. I half-assed that back together, started the motor, and idled SLOWLY back to the trailer..... which luckily I had left in the water, because nobody else was at the ramp that day. Didn't realize how cold I was until halfway back home. Got undressed in the shower under warm water. Busted a rib (bruised from my belly button to my left nipple), and lost my glasses, but bygod I was ALIVE ! Never again! BilletHead, snagged in outlet 3 and nomolites 3
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago One morning I went for a ride with a friend that has a 36 FT Catamaran at Big M. He took me back to where I was parked at Shell Knob, we hit 108 and it felt like nothing in a boat like that. It all about the boat your in. 60 in a bass boat feels way faster snagged in outlet 3, fishinwrench and nomolites 3
