@Flysmallie,

  Here is the bass pro seat I cut the right and left ends off the seat bracket so it would fit in my kayak. Pretty cushy and comfortable. Beats the heck out of what was called a high seat that was recommended for our craft. I still need to convince Pat to get one for her kayak.

My kayak seat is the short back version of that one. Not a bad seat at all.

I'm, however, not a fan of my kayak anymore. I would much rather float in my canoe. Just wish it wasn’t such a pain to haul around.

Kayak a pain, or canoe?

One of the reasons I haven't gone the kayak route is the weight. Pretty easy to get my canoe on top of my Highlander. That's my vehicle and watercraft gotta work with it, not the other way around.

I've never felt comfortable in any style of kayak.   Too low to read water good, too low to see objects under the surface.  And all of the paddling muscles are between the shoulders. Ruddering feels awkward to me also.

100% a canoe guy when it comes to paddle craft..

Both really. Both are heavy and awkward to get up on the SUV. Might be the year for a small trailer.

I didn’t know you had a kayak.   Why don’t you post reports of your trips?

That's some good old fashioned trolling right there!

               If you do let me know what you think please.

I will offer my review: We pulled the trigger on the Eagle Eye 9 back before Christmas. On sale at Academy for $799. I'm pretty impressed actually. Easy to install and use. I won't be trolling around in open water targeting fish like people do with LS, but I really like it for locating structure, especially shallow, without having to go over the top of it. We can easily tell how far away it is and in what depth. You can see if there are fish on or around it. 90% time we anchor & cast jig & float for crappie. I really like it so far. I try not to just sit and stare at it but it is hard not to. This past Sat. we were catching crappie on structure sitting about 30 ft. away. I saw a fish swimming off to the side of the stumps. I cast to it & caught a nice 14 in. white bass. Pretty cool. I agree with what Bill Babler said in another post... It can eliminate water which amounts to time. Our most precious commodity.

If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach him to fish he will be in your spot next time you go.
