She told Richard and I we wouldn't like living down under and if we aren't careful the states could become that way. snagged in outlet 3 1 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" fishinwrench Posted Thursday at 01:24 AM Posted Thursday at 01:24 AM It wouldn't let me read it... I get the gist of it though, and I'm surprisingly in favor of it as long as it doesn't stop there. I'd like to see hairspray, scented candles, 90% of pharmaceutical drugs, and lots of other potentially harmful elements on the chopping block as well 👍 snagged in outlet 3 and Daryk Campbell Sr 1 1

I gave up smoking over 25 years ago. I started young and smoked my fair share. I quit due to medical issues other than respiratory. The doctor told me that it could clog my veins and cause more issues with the swelling in my legs. I wasn't ready to give up skateboarding, so I gave up smoking. I have issues with the sprays such as hair spray and bathroom odor masking spray. They give me instant feeling of lost breath. I still find it funny, when camping, I watch people stand directly in the smoldering smoke of treated wood campfire, and complain about people 4 or 5 sites down smoking cigarettes. I'm aware of the non smokers who get lung cancer and the claim is due to second hand smoke. Im not sure i buy that, as cars still put out horrible emissions, but nothing compared to the 70's and 80's. Not to mention the emissions from factories and burning buildings and such. I know we want something to blame, and cigarettes are not good for you by any means, but I still believe there are many worse things for society. P.S. I still like a good cigar now and again, although I've drastically reduced the desire in the last 5 years. snagged in outlet 3 Posted Thursday at 10:51 AM Posted Thursday at 10:51 AM I don’t smoke and this might be controversial but I don’t think anyone should be able to limit what other people do. Don’t get me started on food additives, personal hygiene products and big pharma. That’s just criminal in my opinion. Terrierman, Daryk Campbell Sr and Greasy B 3
Quillback Posted Thursday at 11:56 AM Posted Thursday at 11:56 AM I'm glad I quit smoking. How things have changed since I was a kid. Back in the day when you had 3 TV channels to choose from, the cigarette companies dominated the commercials- Come to Marlboro Country - and all that. All the actors on TV and in the movies smoked. Everyone smoked everywhere. No age restrictions on cig purchases, when I was in high school you could walk into the convenience store and buy a pack of cigs. 50 cents a pack at the time. When I was in the Army, you could buy a carton of smokes for $3 at the PX, $1.80 at the commissary for a carton. And Zippo lighters, who remembers those? I guess you can still get them. They were refillable, you'd buy a lighter and a can of Zippo lighter fluid. BilletHead and snagged in outlet 3 2

And it's not even like the people making the decisions and laws will be affected by them. They are imposing their wants on other people that have no vote nor power nor other options. It reeks of slavery. And these same people will raise a fuss over "Human Rights" in other countries. snagged in outlet 3 and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
BilletHead Posted Thursday at 05:51 PM Author Posted Thursday at 05:51 PM I agree everyone has a choice and you have the right to choose is you want to use tobacco products or not. Some food for thought though, Cigarette Smoking | Smoking and Tobacco Use | CDC Then two more things. We are taxed to death it seems. We don't cheat and pay our fair share. This being said the uninsured and the underinsured bills are being paid for by taxes we pay. Look it up it's all there. I'm just saying this where it applies to tobacco related product use not everything. Why are our insurance premiums so high and getting higher? Because of the uninsured. Again, I am only using this to where it related to tobacco product use. Look it up it's all there. Hospitals are now charging more for care to recoup costs and negotiate with insurance companies for those higher rates for those who can pay for insurance. I only bring all of this up because I would like to not lose another friend of relative to a tobacco related death. I really hope we might be turning a corner with education. It's going to take some time because we all remember how many of the older generation partook of tobacco and use was passed down to younger generations so on and so forth. BTW our house is a scent free zone except for a fart now and again. Farts happen and we all do it.
