I would move towards more finesse baits. Something like a ned rig, shakey head or drop shot. They're are lots of videos on YouTube for reference. Crankbaits are great in the right scenario, but I find that my best luck comes with wind and the trolling motor going high so I can cover lots of ground. That might be harder in a kayak.

I'm no expert, but your walter looks like a sauger to me. Hard to tell without seeing if there is white on the tail or not.

Just heard that Baxter Marina gas was mostly water for a portion of the day yesterday. Anyone else hear the same?

It was pretty stingy to me, but that's not usually the case!

Picked up this guy in the back of Music on 3/10/18. No doubt an escapee from last year's floods. Wasn't sure if I needed a trout permit or not, so back he went.

Vexus boats. I heard they were looking to purchase Legend and JM got word so he bought legend.

It's out of Long Creek Marina, sounds like big cedar is hosting. I'd guess 200 boats, I'm not sure how they will park/launch that many from there.

I'll just add that Johnny ain't buying these with cash. Moody's keeps downgrading BPS llc credit rating. Which to me indicates he's financing these purchases with holdings companies. He's losing ground on both assets on the books and cash on hand. We'll see, but I think some of these iconic brands will fade with time. On the up side, they'll be an open area for mom And pop companies to fill the market space. Hopefully we'll see some new boat builders come up. Building two fiberglass pieces and gluing them together isn't something with a whole lot of barriers to entry.

I ventured out Saturday afternoon with the plan on fishing until dark. I thought with most schools starting or started and the overcast conditions, it might be light traffic. Wrong. Put in at Aunt's Creek and ran to the mouth of the James. Found a few, but this one really stuck out. I didn't weigh it, but probably be around 4. Seemed very healthy other than is upper lip.

Is there a place to get minnows between Springfield and Crabtree?

I wouldn't say one area holds more than other areas. But depending on what technique and water clarity you feel most confident with should determine the area you head to. I caught some decent Largemouth flipping tree tops with 25# line and a broomstick this weekend. Most boats were pulled off the bank though.

Cormorants are the next snow geese. They are overpopulated and causing some major destruction at Reelfoot lake in TN. http://archive.commercialappeal.com/sports/outdoors/cormorants-killing-reelfoot-lakes-famed-cypress-trees-357b3ef6-02e7-5ac9-e053-0100007f3dd1-383525171.html

Took the wife out Saturday and was beating the bank with a square bill. Stumbled upon this guy. He was sitting between two big rocks and I saw him hit it. My first walleye big enough to keep. My measuring board wasnt big enough, but someone with mdc stopped and asked how we had been doing and was taking some kind of survey. He had a bigger board and it went 25.75". Had a few other short largemouth and big drum.

I'm not convinced that the bass in Taney can be compared to those in CA. Those lakes out west got (I think CA stocking program is on hold) weekly plants of bows throughout the lake. Taney does get a continuous stream of hatchers but most/all are from the one spot and the coldest part of the lake. I think the big browns have most of the dumb ones thinned out before they get to the bass territory. Yes, I know bass are all over the lake and bass definitely do eat trout. But, it's not the exact same situation as they have in CA.
