No, not rust. Just weird angle and Probably not cleaned right. The one with the sausage is a much newer purchase. I haven't gone all in, but do like to use the cast iron. There are many ways to poach them, some use only water stirred in a whirlpool type of way, and caught wirhna strainer. @ness, I just cooked (steamed) them in the nonstick coated cups, and dumped them out. They needed a little motivation with a silicone spatula.

While everyone else is asleep I decided to finally try poached eggs. For years my parents Francine Campbell , and Daniel Peckron have told me how easy to make, and how good they are. They even bought me a kit, with instructions and all. I will try anything once. (Within loose reason). But I'm a creature of habit. Once I find what I like, I stick with it. Well, for scientific reasons, I made and ate 4 poached eggs. Only 1 piece of sausage. The others were to be controls, LOL. My thoughts are as follows. 1st one, almost tasteless, very runny. 2nd tasted really good, would be great on toast. 3rd tasted good, and also started to feel like eating for something to sustain appetite. 4th, not bad, close to a soft boiled egg, also felt like eating something to sustain an appetite. The first two gave the sensation of eating chips. You could eat alot and not really feel full.

Lilley's Lake Taneycomo fishing report, January 8
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
I've never considered crappie in Taneycomo. Interesting that you are selling minnows. Seems like a good offering for crappie. -
I preferred these one cast videos. I like the longer format for info. But the one cast was more enjoyable as a 5 minute or less video. My thoughts anyhow.

Do we have any lathe wood turners on OAF?
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to BilletHead's topic in General Chat
I'm sure it's similar to the desire for fly tying. Plenty options are available, but it's just interesting doing it yourself. -
Interesting list. Took me a few tries to realize it was a sideshow. I was scrolling up and down, not left and right. Gonna have to look up the incident with the fighter jet vs boar.

I'm thinking fall, not sure where, probably a family trip. I want to go northeast.

My goal for this year is to go saltwater fishing. I must catch something for it to count. That is it.

@gotmuddy may be able to show you the Buffalo or at least give some tips. We stay very close (wading distance) to the confluence of Buffalo and White River for jigfest. I would like to catch a ddecent fighter, so far the ones I've caught have not given the tugs or fights that I have read about. I haven't caught any of size also.

Sandy, my apologies. I'm really looking forward to meeting you, and anyone else who I may not have thought to tag. Everyone who is a member of OAF is welcome and invited. This is a group worthy of hanging out with. -

I guess it's kinda like the term Hoosier around St. louis. Some take it in pride, others use it to put someone down. Most from anywhere else, either can't pronounce it, or think of Indiana. @Mitch f there is a whole thread about lathes on here. Probably not the kind you would be interested in though.

Yup, read the whole thing. What is an Iowegian? The food all looked great, and I'm glad you all got to share time together. Tonight's dinner. Quartered potatoes from The Little Potato Company. Baked in melted butter, in a casserole dish, (I was trying to channel the potatoes from jigfest). Sprinkled some garlic salt, let them bake at 425 for about 25 minutes. Added some shredded parmesean cheese and shredded mozzarella. Grilled steaks on a cast iron griddle, over the stove. Bag of broccoli and cauliflower microwaved wirh zome velveta cheese. A kings Hawaiian roll to serve as the bread portion.

Short answer, no. I did try stripping it, and jigging it, as well as dragging it. But, you're spot on. @Big Mike thanks for the report, as well as the pictures. Glad you were able to have success.

I was of the same impression while at jigfest. I threw a green and white clouser while others were throwing jigs. I never got bit.

Football Sculpin Jigs
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to Phil Lilley's topic in General Angling Discussion
I believe they were developed to imitate sculpins, but the action I seen while using them reminded me strongly of a small crawfish. So, yes I believe they will be excellent bass lures. -

The jigs are a new line, I'm not sure if he has them online @Phil Lilley. We stayed at Rileys Outfitter in Mountain Home, AR, we fished the White River. I always resort to tri olive, or sculpin colors. -

The main banner at the top of OAF works as it should. Phil got credit. As a kid who couldn't help what his parents earned or how money was used, I benefitted from kindness of others most of my life growing up. Please don't do this for the adults, but for the kids who have no say. Thanks to all. Merry Christmas -
Taneyfest lunch, January 27, 2024
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to Quillback's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
I will bring a fish fryer, and canola oil. I'll bring some toasted ravioli also. -
Some have seen my rod building trials. Today I tested my new micro fly rod. I stopped on the way home to see if the pool at Rocky Falls held any micros. I missed an opportunity to try to catch some that I seen at Bull Shoals dam. Anyhow, here is my build. I am well aware most don't understand or care, but I find it intriguing. The "blank" is a fiberglass rod from an electrical wire fishing kit. I turned it on my micro lathe and added eyelets from eye pins used in jewelry making. Wrapped with thread from my fly tying kit. UV resin to secure the wraps. The handle is craft cork glued together and turned in the lathe. The line is 1 to 3 weight line I found on Temu, and the reel was bought from Temu. The rod casts better than I could have asked for. My four piece fly rod and bass pro reel for comparison photos.

Jigfest 2023 report and photos
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to Daryk Campbell Sr's topic in General Angling Discussion
Weather was amazing, the friendship was outstanding, and the food was second to none. We got the change to use some new jigs from Lilley's. They look and perform great. They glide across the gravel rock in shallow water, and represent sculpins. I had many follows, but I could not get any commitments. Cody caught two beautiful rainbows with the new football jigs. He was slowly dragging them, and got bit. -

Whenever I fill out the info it shows you, Phil. But on the confirmation page it changes to Richard Marks. I'm sure it goes to the same organization, but want to make sure it goes towards your balance raised. -
This is fishing related

I follow a guy on YouTube who uses small jigs and fly lures on a rod and reel setup to catch frogs. Frog jigging. Looks like alot of fun.
