I don't know about other places around the country, but here at Lake of the Ozarks Missouri, and surrounding areas, masks are nothing but a fashion item. The dentist's are predicting a substantial rise in tooth decay from kids having to wear them all day in school.

Control through fear. There's always SOMETHING. This year it has been microscopic droplets.

You can thank your fisheries biologists for that one. π

Yeah, since the felt ban took effect it's a great place to bust or bruise your tailbone, break a rod, and fill your waders. I've wallowed around in the snotty boulders more than a few times. π

I wish I had known y'all were there today, I'd have shared my lunch with ya. I put on a clinic at the Highbank hole. Some better fish down there. I caught quite a few that were 15-16". I was actually surprised, because a month ago I walked the hatchery and they had nothing but a dozen brood stock fish and a crapload of dinks.

No different than choosing not to wear a seatbelt. Some people get Covid and it's no worse than a case of the sniffles. Others get it and die. Not enough is known about this bug. And I personally go back & forth over whether it's even REAL or not. Mainly because it seems that the only thing that can kill you these days is Covid. Sucks to say it, or hear it said, but population density is the REAL problem. There's too many of us....and this is what happens. π€·ββοΈ

I got banned from AAA for life. When I was in my 20's I had what I thought was a badass 4x4. It wasn't as badass as I thought though, because I never did find a farm pond that it could actually drive through. After the 4th time trying I got a really nasty letter from them. π Basically it said....Dear Jackass, Triple A is for ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, not for dragging you out of farm ponds and mud bogs, out in the middle of nowhere at 3:am. Your membership has been cancelled and if you call us again you're gonna get charged....so you'd better have some phucking CASH on you at the time. Sincerely, Paul Koeling AAA towing.

Don't even start thinkin' about nit-picking with the kids. In the end they'll never forget the times you bickered.....But they'll easily forget all the good things you did throughout the years.

I thought I smelled something foul in the breeze this morning. THAT explains it. I was afraid that maybe a cat crawled up in one of these boats and died, or something. π

I would think that the constant Up/Down fluctuations of a tailwater would drastically effect the scud population. Especially in the upper end. I know that crawdads are extremely scarce below Bagnell and Truman dams.

Oh I live in that environment too. The more pissed she is....the deeper the cleaning. If you come in and she's dusting the entertainment center, you'd better just leave the property. We never get along very well around Christmas time, because I'm being mindful about spending, knowing that I'm facing 2.5 months of little to no income..... Yet here she is going apeshit buying presents and crap. π€ͺ

I'm guessing that what makes him "perfect" is that you can buy him with an EBT card ?

We tried that on owners of 36-52' yachts on Lake O...... Didn't work. Wouldn't you think that a guy that could afford a boat like THAT....and a dock to keep it in, could also think of a cooler, more beautiful place to cruise around with it? Nah π

Petty about Definitions - Object in Utah desert
fishinwrench replied to Johnsfolly's topic in General Chat
Yeahπ€ This barn near the curve, tucked in the woods with it's overhanging tree on the north side... (Ignore the shadow on the Southside of the roof) Now sets in this little clearing back further off the road.... overhanging tree and all. Supposedly happened overnight. Nov.6, 7, or 8 The old disappearing farm house happened just before Halloween about 10-12 miles east of there. I don't know anything about either place, personally, but I can definitely confirm the location of the barn NOW, and it isn't where the latest Google Earth image shows it. -
Petty about Definitions - Object in Utah desert
fishinwrench replied to Johnsfolly's topic in General Chat
There's been some "weirdness" going on around this area since right before Halloween (oddly enough). It was all something fun to tease people about for awhile, but pretty much everyone has stopped laughing now, and started scratching their heads (myself included). An old rundown house... on property that nobody knows who owns...vanished overnight. And then an old barn...also on a different tract of unfenced property that nobody knows who owns.... got entirely "moved" 200+yards from where it has set for 25-30+ years. Not just the barn, but even the trees and brush around it. Google Earth images actually confirm that one. Mandela effect maybe? Parallel universe slip up? Possessed tax man? Nobody has any answers. -
And, if it is the same study from way back then, with nothing fresh added, then you would lose your money. My money says that IF there is anything fresh added.....it is insignificant. Which is why I didn't bother to "download the file" this time.

A Missouri University (who shall remain unnamed) is raising trout on well water. They sell them to restaurants at a fraction of the amount that the well pump costs to operate. Absolutely brilliant! ππ

So what have we learned about scuds and sowbugs THIS TIME that we already didn't know ? Typical MDC method of operation.....Study it until it is extinct. π

Can't say that I've fished "for them", but I have caught them there. And above.

Your most common leader length and weight?
fishinwrench replied to Orey10m's topic in General Flyfishing Topics
I think we've visited this topic before..... probably 30 times. I spin them up like this, from 8# Trilene mean green. Works great for Trout and panfish. I use 12# for bigger-nastier critters. A true "furled" leader (constructed on a jig) will spin your tippet up like crazy....the harder you pull, the more it spins. These don't do that. π -
This fight is a media stunt. Pisses me off. Either fight FOR REAL, or stay home, do bong hits, and eat chicken nuggets. Why all the "special rules"? I don't even want to see it. π

What are you listening to?

Not a chance. Lots of things have changed. I may compile a list later. π -
1976 9.8hp Mercury shifter question
fishinwrench replied to Daryk Campbell Sr's topic in Throw It Down
It doesn't have to start......just has to hit one time on one cylinder, and the prop spins 2.5 rotations before your heart can beat once. -
Working from home trip report
fishinwrench replied to snagged in outlet 3's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Plus you're usually close to the truck! Out on a lake it can suck pretty bad. Day starts out kinda cool and foggy, then the fog clears and here comes the wind. Temp starts dropping and it begins to rain. Rain turns to a downpour thunderstorm. Then finally it stops....and here comes the wind again, with steadily dropping temperatures. I only have one keeper in the box, and I'm on my last pair of dry gloves.... Check the clock and there's 3.5 hours to go. Mama! π
