Way up lake, Big M and above all the way to Houseman, is never as bad. From the dam, you are talking 50 or 60 river miles. Trust me, the upper end holds good fish (perhaps not as many SM).  Stay in crazy Eureka, launch at Holiday Island (they sometimes have nightly slips with power), and enjoy.

That would be an idea but wife really likes staying Kimberling City.
plus we really like chasing smallmouth mostly.

    Try bull shoals

We have been on Bull a couple times and really like the lake.
Our problem is wife has to schedule vacations way in advance and trying to out guess when Bull won’t be hugely flooded is tough.
The one time we tried it flooded so bad while we were there we had no idea where to try and launch and headed home early.

  3. Next time before the wife schedules her vacation I will definitely be checking the regatta permits first.
Every spring we always hit when the chicken plucker(Tyson) tournament was going on for part of our trip.
Honestly not sure which is worse the big bass deal or the chicken plucker.
I guess at least I never saw big bass deal people knifing bass in the campground like I did a few of the chicken plucker people. 🤮

We are honestly disappointed as we do truly love the lake and area down there!!

  4. Well darn it anyhow. After us coming down in the spring for a lot of years we got tired of fighting all the big tournaments and traffic and have went north to SD for last couple years.

We missed being down on Table Rock so we planned on coming down for a few days the end of this week.

Then we saw the big bass tournament was this weekend and another tournament permitted for 80 boats out of where we were planning to launch and some other smaller tournaments. Wife can’t change her time off so the option of coming a different weekend doesn’t work.

Sooooo we canceled our house we were going to rent, got our Dixie Stampede tickets refunded and are now heading back up North. 😔

Maybe one of these days we can plan another trip when the lake isn’t over ran with big tournaments. We really love the area but don’t like having to ‘take a number’ for fishing spots.

We also used to buy fish flour from Flat Creek restaurant and have ran out and was going to buy some more. They don’t actually have containers for sale but we always talked to a manager and they would bag up a few pounds and sell it to us.
If anyone is willing to buy some of their flour and ship it to us shoot me a message.

  5. The docks I saw being fished were in the first picture of the pdf. It was the docks on left side of the picture and they were fishing    a little over half of the way back to all the way back.
All those docks have the big red commercial no fishing signs.
    Are those legal to fish?

  6. Question about the derby if you don’t mind.
Were the commercial docks with the red no fishing signs off limits for the high school tournament?

If so it is amazing how many adults are teaching the kids it is perfectly ok to cheat in a tournament!

I personally saw numerous high school boats fishing the commercial docks at Kimberling  City. Saw 2 cast into the slips with the boat sitting directly in front of the sign.
Bad part is I actually only looked when letting dogs out of the camper or unloading/loading the boat; so who knows how many others I didn’t see.
Now wether I agree with those docks being off limits is a whole other thread in itself.

  7. Tried to send a PM but it says you can't receive messages for some reason.

Anyway;  Wife and I will be in Kimberling City starting this Friday until the morning of the 11th.

Do you still want me to bring my Dek-it mount along for you? If so send me a message with your number and I will get ahold of you to figure out when/where to get it to you.

Yeah we've definitely shared weeks and storm experiences with you a few times.

Yet somehow I always seem to take the blame........🤔

We're a week later than normal this year so perhaps the identity of the REAL weather disaster culprit will finally be revealed!

Can't say as I'm expecting to be exonerated however.🌩️

I am just fine with it being known you are the one at fault. LOL

    Aw, c'mon Dave!

It won't be the same without having you to share the misery with!

Looking at the forecast the weather gods apparently think we're coming this weekend and staying thru next week though.

The part in bold is because the wife and I will be coming down end of next week.
Seems to always storm while we are there.

  10. Tried to send you a message but it said you can't receive messages for some reason. Anyhow.........

If you have not found one yet; I do have one. It is the Dek-it 0.0 degree gps black color. It sells for $119.99 at tackle warehouse. I would sell mine for $75.

Only problem is I am in Nebraska so it would have to be shipped; or wife and I are going to be in Kimberling City towards the end of April and could bring it along then.

  11. Maybe a compromise could be absolutely no tournaments, no harvest and immediate release from April 1st through end of May. People could still have fun fishing but bass would be released immediately to go back to the beds.

Walleye deal would have to be at a different time of the year but I can't say when as I have no idea when they spawn down there.
