  1. Here is my one piece of petrified wood. Washington state, there's quite a bit of it in the old lava flow land where I used to chukar hunt. Used to be quite a few trunks standing, but they were dug up and moved to people houses for lawn ornaments. There was one stump that was maybe 20 feet high that was left, we used to use it as a landmark chukar hunting, we'll go down the draw to the right, you guys go down the one to the left and we'll meet at the tree. Washington geology is pretty interesting and due to the nature of the terrain you can still easily see the effects of lava flows, glaciers, and the Missoula flood. 2. Yeah who knows, might be burying his dead cat.
  3. No doubt, I'm outlining what it would take for me to go, which of course has no influence whatsoever.
  4. Here's something I found a couple of days ago. At first I thought it was a leaf imprint, but must be some kind of sea life. Pretty eroded so hard to tell.
  5. They need to move the whole operation out to somewhere near the freeway where there is lots of room for parking and away from city streets. I'm also wondering if this thing is really going to draw in huge crowds or not. There was a flyer for it in the local paper, first one I have seen. Red Eye shad on sale, BPS Stickos, BPS cranks, BPS rod/reel combos. Nothing I saw that would compel me to go there. There are a bunch of fishing celebrities, NASCAR types, and C&W singers so maybe people will go for that. Oh, and they did have Pond Prowlers for $999.00. In case anyone needs one. And boats are for sale and they say if you drive off with one they won't charge for transportation costs! What a deal! That also makes me wonder how you can tow one out of there if you can't get there in your vehicle?
  6. Little Sugar creek runs close to HWY 71 near the MO/AR border, yesterday driving along, I saw a guy on a big gravel bar leaning on a shovel. Had to be digging for stuff, looked like a shot in the dark to me, lot of work for little reward, but maybe he was on to something.
  7. Well 4 keepers isn't bad for a day on Beaver. I hear you on the crowds, tough to avoid them on Saturday in the spring.
  8. Bobby Lane pulled it off fishing a jig. He pulled out a 6lb. 3 oz. fish out of a boat dock that had him on the wrong side of a cable. I didn't watch it all day, but jigs, jerk baits, cranks and spinner baits were all catching fish. Good average size to boot, it wasn't a numbers game. You should have some good fishing Steve.
  9. I only caught some of the little ones, left the big ones for ya. 😃
  10. Watching some live coverage today, Andy Montgomery just boated a couple of 4+ bass throwing a spinner bait around shallow willows with the wind blowing into them. Edwin Evers had 4 for 16+ doing the jerk bait/FFS thing. They aren't getting a lot of numbers, but catching some good fish.
  11. They have the Spring Classic Sale which I believe is still going on and they mail out a circular for that. This World's Fishing Fair deal is a new event. I have not seen anything published as to what will be for sale.
  12. Love redears, some nice ones come out of the Bella Vista lakes, but they aren't nearly as abundant as the gills.
  13. Nice bluegill, getting close to the time I like to fish for them here. I'm ready for some fried gill fillets!
  14. Good job Jacob, 14th out of 246 boats is pretty good.
  15. It was 49 in a couple of places near Big M, a couple of days ago, so 48 would not surprise me.
  16. The online ad just mentioned that there would be stuff on sale, but didn't mention anything specific.
  17. Most likely wasn't going to go, but hearing that, not going for sure.
  18. Watching some live coverage, couple of 3+ just landed on jerk baits. They are using the FFS/jerk bait combo. Watching Jordan Lee work a Stunna, just giving it a couple twitches, pause maybe 2 seconds, twitch, repeat. He caught one of the 3+ doing that. Vinson just caught a 2.1 spot fishing a JB around docks. Steve, you might want to bring a few JB's with you. 😃
  19. Used to use the para cord/split shot thing steelhead fishing. Steelheaders called them "slinkys". But it was a c-rig style set up, slinky-swivel-several feet of leader with a gob of salmon eggs.
  20. That's some great fishing Mark! I would volunteer to hold down the back of the boat for you tomorrow, but have stuff to do. Good luck!
  21. Got some bites, but small fish, 22 bass and a couple of short walleye. Only two keeper spots that squeaked in just over the mark. Caught more than half on the Ned rig, but maybe another 7 or 8 on the "Free Rig". Free rig, if you don't know, is basically a Texas Rig, but instead of using a bullet weight, you use a cylinder type drop shot weight. And the drop shot weight needs to have a wire loop rather than the clip on line tie so the line slides through it. I fished it dragging a full Zinker. Fished the banks in coves dragging it on the bottom, caught one here and there, but mostly spots, thought I would have shot at some sizeable largemouth, but other than a 14" LM, it didn't happen. Nice thing about the free rig is that it does not snag nearly as much as a T-rig. WT was 49, big wind started blowing around 10 AM.
  22. Hey Steve - There's a BPT going on there right now, don't know if you know about it, but if not here's a link where you can watch the coverage. It will at least give you an idea on water color and what the pros are catching them on. We Are Bass Fishing - Major League Fishing I have fished it a few times, only had one good day there and that was with jerkbaits in the fall. The lake has a reputation as a good crank bait and jerk bait lake and it sure wouldn't hurt to pack a few jigs. I like the area on the south side of Monkey island, several coves to poke around in and the main lake bank is facing south. Where are you launching at?
  23. That cutt is a neat looking fish.
  24. Keep it coming Marty, I enjoy reading this stuff. You probably know about this guy they found frozen in the Alps that died roughly 5,000 years ago. What is neat is his clothing and shoes and how it was made. They also found some stone tools with him. Ötzi - Wikipedia
  25. OK, guy is trying to sell a boat here, posts not related to that have been deleted.
