  1. You can use news paper and burn the pin feathers off. We did that all the time when we killed fryers.
  2. Yep all I have ever found is foundations and one grave yard that was moved and the graves left open.
  3. Due to an injury I had to go to a self deploying trolling motor. The MK Ulterra was my only option. I had Lowrance electronics. Over time I sold my Lowrance units and replaced them with Humminbirds. There are lots of functions that are available now and I use many of them on every trip. I have the option of even controlling the Ulterra with my birds. I wouldn’t want to have to go back to units that would not work together.
  4. Those are a lot more serious looking than what I saw. I saw more of a rash instesd of open wounds.
  5. I’ll try to remember that Friday.
  6. I don't know what causes it but at least 1 in 10 yesterday had some kind of sores on them. If it were on a person I'd call it a rash. I don't know what one would call it on a fish. The Bull Shoals die off in 02-03 is the only one that I know of on that lake and I have fished is since Shep's dad was a pup. I'm heading back on Friday to see if it were a fluke or a good thing.
  7. I haven’t white bass fished on that pond since the die off several years ago. I decided to try it today. I launched at Lightfoot about 9:30 and fished down toward the dam. I hit 6-8 spots. Some only had a couple but 3 of them were loaded. I saw at least 3 year classes and possibly 5. By lunch time I had caught an even 100. I was looking for a banner day but had trolling motor trouble and had to quit.
  8. You might get by with a Lowrance power cord and a lawn mower battery. A lot of guys do it that way.
  9. I might have been able to do it 20 years ago but not now, no way.
  10. I agree a ladder is a must have. I’ve heard for years about straddling the motor trimming it up and crawling over it back into the boat. I tried it once just to see how it would work. It didn’t. That is a young man’s game. I also wear my Mustang all day.
  11. You win the day. Ketchup and I are green with envy.
  12. What was the water clarity and temp? I went to Rouark looking for crappie. The water in the Big Sac was muddy looking. I saw lots of groceries and shoppers at the end of the bluff in 28 to 36 fow near the bottom. I only had 2 bites. I lost the first one. The second turned out to be a 6” white crappie. After an hour and a half the wind picked up a little so I called it quits put those setups away and pulled out some spinner baits and Arigs. Not a bit of love there either so they went into the box. I took a run up Sons and pulled out a couple of white bass setups with sliders tied on. Even the whites were slow. I did manage a limit and called it quits. I don’t know if the appearance of the sun caused the change but something sure did slow down the bite. I believe that I may go to Pomme de Terre and see if I can find a crappie in a couple of days.
  13. They must be up river. I’ve never seen any vegetation on Stockton.
  14. I had a similar conversation with a neighbor who shared a half mile of fence on one of our farms. His place was 200 acres and ours was 240. We had one covey of quail along the fence between us. Both farms had clear barbed wire fences and fescue pastures. He said when he was young his farm alone had 10 coveys. I asked him about the fences at the time and the pastures. He said the fence rows were all grown up in brush. They had dairy cows so they grew corn, milo, and lespedeza. Nuff said.
  15. Last Friday morning while the boat was at Marine Repair getting a new electronics battery installed.
  16. Tell that to my cousin who just got out of the hospital with it and has to be on oxygen for the foreseeable future.
  17. Well I am fishing as often as I can get away. I have no problem with social distancing as I’m pretty anti social to begin with. We aren’t going to restaurants either but we call ahead and pick up food once in a while. At least once a week my wife picks a day trip so we take off and go 200 miles or so in many different directions.
  18. That sounds good to me. I’d like to be able to do the shot thing but 4 years ago the neurologist at the hospital said stop drinking and smoking unless I was ready to die soon. I wasn’t.
  19. Maybe a rubber gasket would work.
  20. That is a shock. They just built a new distributor ship building south of I44 on Hwy MM.
  21. Just shy of 15” and few of them. Last time I fished for them it was 6-1 shorts.
  22. No
  23. Do any of you fish it much? I AM TALKING JIG WITH A CRAW TRAILER.
  24. Nothing. I don’t have a car. I haven’t had a car since the 70s. My truck is too tall to put anything on top of it.
  25. I have to go with Dave. I have experimented with several line types and sizes. I have moved all of my dead stick Ned setups to 6# fluorocarbon line. I have caught smalljaws to 4# and greenies over 6# on it. It gets me way more bites than the other stuff. When I swim them I get by with 6# mono.
