Wanted to try a different lake and was basically scouting and fished the lake at Des pere Park off Manchester. Caught nine small bass from 6-10 inches long in 2.5 hours. Missed more strikes than that due to windy conditions. I wish I could have hooked something besides those little bass, but nothing else. I was using a pumpkin /chartreuse slab magnet on a 1/24 shad dart head #4 sickle hook, and caught a couple on a float n fly that I make. The lake has some depth and I was fishing with a float about 5-6.5 feet deep. Took a couple pictures and might post them after I get a nap. Cooler air makes me sleepy.

I love Simpson.  Its definitely a challenge but the location is so close to me that I just cant pass it up.  I have a coleman crawdad and a 10 foot sit on top that I love to take over there.

I've figured out over the past couple years that summer months a wacky or t-rigged senko, or a t-rigged trick worm thrown at brush piles (particularly around the spillway) can be pretty consistent.  When things really get slow I put a little popper fly on a 3 weight fly rod.  Bluegill go nuts for it and every once in a while a dink bass will hit it and give you a ride.

In the fall I usually put away the jon boat and take the kayak up the glaze creek.  The bass up there seem to like chasing small moving baits that time of year.

I've hit plenty of other ponds in the area.  I work down at the brewery, and occasionally during lunch I'll run over to Carondelet (not the trout lake, other one...).  I've had a fair amount of success there.

My neighborhood pond can be fun.  I've pulled out plenty of 2+ pounders and I hooked into what must have been a giant some time this past fall.  It immediately started pulling drag and broke me off.  I'm still chasing that elusive fish...

I randomly pulled a 5 lb'er out of the lake at New Ballwin park.  That was pretty surprising.

One of the absolutely best day's I've had though is the lake out by the Chesterfield Central Park.  Its bank fishing only, but when I've been out there the fishing's been great.

Unger Park is way down, lowest I've seen it and I've been fishing there since the 80's. River is rising and starting to fill it back up so I tried for an hour. No crappie which was my target fish but caught a bass and then hooked a monster queen crappie that turned into a pumpkin after a couple minutes. Ugly drum!!!  I'll say one thing about drum. They aren't shy and will hammer a crappie jig. Caught three of them and they all hammered that jig. Pic is of the biiggest one. Fish were in water less than a foot deep. If lake keeps filling might see some action from crappie this weekend. IMG_0443.JPGIMG_0444.JPGIMG_0445.JPG

Took a trip to unger saturday and fished for 4 hours. never realized how shallow the lake was, only 5.0' average depth and surface water temp was 66 degrees. Anyways me and my buddy failed. I probably won't make another trip there unless I can get my confidence up.

Been wondering where you've been smalliebigs.  Nice report.
