Smalliebigs Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Table Rock has turned from a fishing lake to a Recreational body of water for sure. It's a joke but, at least I'm realistic about it.......Table Rock is not a fishing destination for most......it is a place to take your clan and go see washed up country music artist and other weird performers and then go throw a wake at a beautiful highland reservoir. Table Rock is not a fishing destination.....it is more of a destination for shows and boating, not fishing.....get used to it. Boobie and merc1997 Bo 2
Smalliebigs Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Baxter ramp was the usual Funnyfarm over the weekend. Then, some highly intelligent individual decided to launch off the Marina parking lot. Don't know how he got past those steel cables strung at the lower extent of the lot but his prop managed to hit two dock-anchor cables on his way out. hahahahahahahaha.......that's classic!!!! from the Marina???? wtf I wish I could have been there that would have been cool to see
Old plug Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I actually find most folks to be pretty good guys when you take a minute to get to know them. I absolutely detest wake boats and wish they did not exist but the guys that own these are just looking for a good time. Same as me in my 17 foot bass tracker. As I was reading the thread I reflected a bit on how I use to view other boaters. My buddy and I started referring to the guides and tournament anglers as "the Gore-Tex boys". We knew that by and large we could count on the Gore-Tex boys to make constant wakes as they zoom from one pre-fished spot to another. We also knew that they must be a friendly bunch because they always seemed to enjoy pulling in next to my little boat to fish. So now we have the wake boaters arriving on the scene. There is a bit of karma for the Gore-Tex boys. While I will use my limited abilities to help a guy at the ramp, I think Bill made the correct decision in this case. Tournament anglers are many times zooming all over the place but your wrong avout guides. They have more sense and experience to need to do that. And I would centure to say a good number of those are just running around showing showing off the boat and their shirts. BILL yes it is all around you and me. 2 yrs we had to return to The Onandaga cave area for a funeral after a absence of many years. Onadaga being my take out for my many many Meramec Floats I just had to go down there. I am so sorry I did. The mess human kind have made of that place made me sick to my stomach. Was enough to about bring tears to my eyes. Around here on LOZ you know what we are faced with. People and in particular summer people can destroy anything.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Master Craft XStar you can look it up. Starting price is $158,000.00 plus options. 24.11 ft. You can get into the boat for well over 2 hundred big ones and this one looked like it had it all. I guessed 150 but I'm probably off at least 50 GRRRR. on the short side. He was launching it will a full size Escalade, and the cheap ones start at 83 grand. I'm guessing the guy was maybe 35 and his bride was under that. I looked it on the interweb. I guess it's nice but it ain't no pond prowler. Just sayin. Pete
crazy4fishin Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Bill your comment is right on about the boat dealers, but I suspect that most would just say....no problem I got this.....nobody wants to appear "dumb" right? Especially when your wife is right next to you....asking "have you done this before?" I mean she was double daring me right? So I had to say....heck yeah..... When I bought my first Bass boat I was in heaven and all glassy eyed.....the 20 Y/O gave me the "here is everything tour"...today I would have asked about filling the live wells, yes you have to close the valve or the water actually runs out...and how in the world do you get this thing up on plane...o yeah trim it in! Then for speed trim it out some....And what is the best depth to have the trailer in the water - yes that is a thing with bass boats. Power loading? Cool words when together in a sentence ...... I am sure that many people thought WTH is that guy doing with that little 17' BB cranking it on the trailer!? I didn't understand until I watched a couple of guys power load at TR....I thought well I be darn that is a cool way to load the boat!! The plug...never forget the plug! At least make sure the plug that comes with the boat actually screws into the drain! No more splaining on this one.... All in all the good Lord knew that you were trying to help....as we all would have done....not much more to do at that point. C4F Crazy4fishinA Cornhusker
skeeter Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 hahahahahahahaha.......that's classic!!!! from the Marina???? wtf I wish I could have been there that would have been cool to see Yeppers, and that was when the water was only about 918 and some change. This afternoon, the same highly intelligent person wouldn't have had any problem....she's on the way up at 920.5 and rising pretty fast. At least this time around all four turbines are operational at the dam so they will be making a lot of clean Hydropower. I still can't figure how he got that trailer over or under those parking lot cables but he did. The "Baxter Springs" inlet at the rear corner of the parking lot sounds like a Rocky Mountain Creek during Spring Snowmelt.
Members Leitsout Posted July 8, 2015 Members Posted July 8, 2015 Said it a hundred times.............. pack a cooler, lawn chair, sun screen and head to the ramps for pure entertainment. I asked a guy if he wanted some help loading at Mill one time and he looked at me like I insulted him. Meanwhile, we waited another 20 minutes for him to get his wife, kid and little lap dog onto the water as he waded out nipple high trying to rock the boat off the trailer. I suspect the guy with the $150,000 cruiser makes more money than I can imagine, but has little in the way of common sense or courtesy. Welcome to LOZ, uh, I mean TR. I would suspect the guy is in debt up to his eye balls and I would agree with the lack of common sense and courtesy.

Members Grappling Coach Posted July 8, 2015 Members Posted July 8, 2015 Many years ago when we first got a boat, my wife and I were launching at Pittsburgh landing on Pomme at first light and were the only people at the ramp. She backed me in to the water and drove up the hill out of sight to park. When we came in, I walked up the hill to the gravel lot to get the truck and saw that she had parked sideways instead of pulling straight in, taking up at least 5 parking spots. I gave her the little note that someone left on the windshield with some choice words on it and explained what she had done wrong and how to do it right next time. She was very embarrassed, felt really bad about it and never did it again. With no one else parked there, she didn't realize what she was doing. She now backs the trailer down the ramp and launches me or pulls me out like a pro. There is a distinct learning curve that comes with operating a boat for the first time. When I see people struggle down the ramp, get out, and then start unhooking everything and getting everything loaded in the boat, I have to think that they just don't know what they are doing. awhuber 1

Used to be, I never gave a second thought to such behavior being anything but just that ... blissful ignorance of boat ramp etiquette. Sadly, these days I'm pretty quick to be swayed into thinking they just don't give a fat rat's rectal region about anyone but themselves. huntest, Codywskeeter1521 and big c 3
