The mistletoe the jigfest group found in Arkansas reminded me of one of early adventures to the White River. Railroad buddy who my kids nicknamed "Mr. Fuji" and I were to meet up with Joe and Terry Graven from Sand Springs resort for a few days of fishing. The closer we got, the more Mr. Fuji talked about all the squirrel nests along the river. I'm driving but not seeing but a few actual squirrel nests. I finally asked him what he was seeing and he pointed out a bunch of mistletoe. I could see the light go on in his eyes and he asked "Is that the stuff they sell at Famous Barr in the winter for $5-10 a sprig." Yes it is I told him. The light is still on and he's devising a plan to get some. He decided we could climb some of those trees and retrieve enough to pay for our trip. Some of the mistletoe must have been 50-60 feet in the tops of some big trees. We didn't stop as there's no way he or I either one could climb that high.  He might have set the world record for casting a #7 shad rap. Our guide told him the Rapala shad rap were the hot plug so he bought all they had at the dock for $7 plus tax. His first cast ,the line broke and I believe he could have grabbed some of that mistletoe as far as that plug went. Sure do miss him.
