I can't agree with champ more on his color of lure in conjuction with water color. I will say I use monkey butt and perch and predominantly fish the dam are and have good success with those colors. Loz I use the black one mostly.

I personally think it's overrated or some guys on here are "secretly" affiliated with the company. I've fished it along with most other topwaters and have had better luck with other topwaters, such as the good ol' spook. On one occasion, I was fishing an early morning and wipers were chasing shad on topwater and I was using a WP and my buddy was walking a super spook and he was killing them, I didn't even get so much as a sniff. So what did I do.......I tied on a spook and never looked back. This isn't just a one time scenario, it happened numerous other times that I no longer carry it with me. It's more a reaction type bait than anything else. It has it's time and place, and for me that place is on the shelf at the store.

Well I will tell you this. I have had some of the most viscous strikes I have ever had on that bait. Some of my biggest stringers of bass have came from that bait. You have to know where to throw it and get the right angle to catch a lot more fish. I figured this out by throwing it all day long. It's a big fish bait

In my limited experience I have found it to be one of the best top water baits I have ever used.  I'm not getting a cent from anyone for throwing it.  With the folks I take it is much easier to use than a spook and covers water at 3 times the speed even with plip plopping very slowly.  It  also throws further than a fin and runs perfect from the box every time.  I had 5 different color 90's tied on today and caught at least 6 on each, so when they are really going, I don't think anything matters. When you are trying to bring singles up I for sure think it does.

I'm not sold on the white feathered tails as I think it somewhat drags down the back of the 90's does not effect the 130.  I for sure would change the split rings, I'm using Spro or Owner. With a walking bait or a wake bait I think the tail makes a very significant difference, but not on the straight running top water plopper.

Good Luck

You are certainly entitled to believe whatever you want to believe. However, that doesn't make it true. If I choose to believe that chocolate milk comes from brown cows, I'm blissfully ignorant and live in my own delusions.

I am sponsored by my 40 hours a week at the salt mine NOT by any lure company.

If I were sponsored, I'd still tell the truth. Every lure is a tool. Some tools are better for particular job than others. I love fishing a spook. I love when it works. It is not always the best tool for the job. There are times when the WP absolutely is. I choose to be ready for those conditions.

What he said.

I'm just about an idiot when Striper talk comes up, don't know the first thing.  I do know last Fall when they were hitting the top on Beaver, Bill Beck and Greg Wood had one of those special days on Beaver with close to 40 top water Stripers on the 130 Monkey Butt with the biggest at 35 pounds.

I believe they might eat it.

I here everybody is out of stock, word has it Champ 188 bought all of them,,LOL

I get a super special uber-deep discount on them, hence the shortage. Chi0082, I could tell you where you're going wrong but putting that knowledge out for public consumption could wipe out the entire bass population in Table Rock. :o:lol:

I use both the WP and the Rover by River2Sea. The Rover is also an excellent bait. Especially the Aaron Martin tuned version. But since the WP became so popular, they've completely restocked the shelves at BPS with WP's and you can't even find a Rover anymore!?

I did notice one thing with the WP when I was throwing it on TR last weekend. I have it on my top water rod with 17lb braid. If I didn't keep the tip of my rod up it didn't make that plop plop plop sound. It's almost like the nose of it stayed down in the water too much and cause it to dive down just enough that the spinner wouldn't work like it should.

Anyone  using the Livingston Walking Boss II with any luck?  It's the walking bait with the jitterbug lip on it.  I was throwing it a little last week and had some blow ups from small fish but that's about it.
