that kind of thinking will get me in trouble!!

Instead of going out to dinner and spending some coin....make her a nice dinner at home for 1/3 the cost. Save that $ to put toward the upgraded reel and you make her feel special. Will be hard for her to say no!

I don't understand. My financial advisor works for ME!

Just kidding. But get the Daiwa. How much trouble can a lousy $20 cause?

Look at it this way, you know the curiosity is gonna kill you and you're eventually gonna have to have it anyway. By then the price will have gone up and you'll probably end up having to rob a liquor store to get the money to pay for it.  You'll get busted, end up in the joint for 5 or 6 years and then what?  See, you're actually doing her and yourself a HUGE favor!

You're welcome and congratulations on the new reel!

I do not care about what they cost all i care about is how well they work and for how long I have the same view about a rods.

my financial advisor has informed me i need to spend less than $80 on a new reel

I know sorry....and I am lucky  as what I get to spend.

I am very impressed  with that Diawa....it has taken some abuse as I wade and fish out of boats and tend to put some serious beat downs on my epuipment...great reels

V-Man, do not let the fact become lost on you that our spouses double as our favorite fishing/golfing companions and therefore are partners in crime where lavish spending on these ventures is concerned.

Took me a couple of extra tries to land on that formula for success, but it's been working for 23 years now. :D

Aw, I know - I actually really do get.  I just like starting bonfires across the way and then sitting back to observe the carnage!  I do it to my little brother all the time - poor guy can't even let the dogs out without permission so you can only imagine how I torment him all the time.

What's the point of having achieved such an enviable place in life if you're not gonna reap the benefits of rubbing it in every chance you get?  Good thing I'm not rich - I'd probably make fun of the poor people too!

Not having kids provides me with another wonderfully mischievous past time - get somebody else's kids all fired up with crazy ideas and then send them home!  A couple of luxuries that you just can't buy but rather have to earn over the course of an entire lifetime!

That being said - go buy the danged reel or you'll hate yourself for the rest of your life!  If she REALLY loved you and REALY cared about you wouldn't she want you to have it and to be happy?

See?

I hate me sometimes.

Smalliebiggs, I will check that reel out, wade fishing has killed more reels for me than anything else, don't know exactly why, if it's the grit, or banging it around or what.  Floating is second most destructive, mostly because it usually devolves into wade fishing too.

They get gritty and I absolutely cannot stand a gritty reel.  Occasionally I am able to clean them up and out and re lube but more often just can't get it all gone.
