Champ188 Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 An RC STX in the right hands will catch plenty of fish. mixermarkb, dtrs5kprs and 176champion 3

I have 3 "projects" to test out here shortly when I make it down in a few weeks. A new bait that will require tinkering, a new custom paint and a workshop/operating table Frankenstein where drills, 00 buckshot pellets and epoxy were required. Should be interesting. That is IF the fish aren't already spawned out and on their summer pattern already with these warm temps. GOOD GRIEF! No kidding. I'm canceling my subscription to the Farmer's Almanac. They predicted the COLDEST February in North American HISTORY for cryin' out loud. I guess Caleb's calculations don't compute with global warming. KVD fishes it all year but I don't see or hear a lot about other guys fishing it past say 55 degrees? Ever watch KVD fish a jerkbait in the summer? The man must have forearms like Popeye. That constant jerk bait action doesn't look fun. Champ188 1 -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

I also have rods I have TRIED to crank with for an like hour and yeah......feel the burn! No amount of spinach could make me continue doing that the rest of the day.
buckcreekmike Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Bass pro now makes a mega bass clone called the bass hawk minnow. Regular price $6.99, right now on sale for $5.99. I bought one, haven't used it yet though. I know there are some mixed feelings on here about BPS, but if hey work they are 1/5 the price of a mega bass, and even a few bucks cheaper than the RC's. they don't have the smaller version yet though. Gavin Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 The Japanese baits tend to have better finishes, weight transfer systems, hooks, and rattles. Not that you can't find a good bait for less. Always look to see that the weight transfer works well and for stuck rattles. Compare the sounds they make. Glass rattles are really loud. Brass or lead not so much. Duo Reallis makes some very good baits at a decent price. Evergreen and Jackall are good too. Quillback, *T* and Mitch f 3
