Royal Blue Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Oh and we saw 59 degree water up in Bear. I dragged the ned a ton yesterday with one bite. It just wasn't my day. I snapped a rod casting a Rock Crawler, and probably should've left right after that! magicwormman and mixermarkb 2

merc1997 Bo Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 right now there are some areas of the lake that the shad have finally came up shallow and fish have followed to some extent. a good portion of the day they are still staying out in the channel and suspending. but, right at dark, there is a mass movement to the bank and gorge up and then it is over. don't forget that with lower water levels the feeding flats are now shrunk in size and that alone changes how fish position and move in and and out. i would assume that whites on bull are making a mass movement to shallower water as they have on table rock. i go with length of day light for spawners, and then add water temps. there will always be early spawners that stay shallow year round in skinny water. those deep bass are not aware the water has warmed up. bo mixermarkb, dtrs5kprs, vernon and 1 other 4
Quillback Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Bass over at Swepco spawn late January early February, but they have Florida strain genes. I would think it would also involve egg development, if the water is warm early are the eggs going to be ready for them to spawn? Champ188, magicwormman, Royal Blue and 1 other 4

How in the world does he catch anything on those? Hunter53 Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 As far as spawn goes; here is what a fisheries biologist in Nebraska said about fish spawning.............. "Are the largemouth bass in Florida the same as the largemouth bass in Nebraska?I am not referring to northern-strain versus Florida-strain bass. Are the bass in Oklahoma or Kansas the same as the bass in Nebraska?Largemouth bass from each geographic region can and usually do have their "own genetics". Those bass in Florida, Kansas, Oklahoma, or Nebraska are best-adapted for survival in that area and part of that adaptation is that they spawn at the time when they are most likely to be successful. Obviously, southern-most largemouth bass spawn first each year and the progression of spawning activity then moves north as the year passes. There are a number of cues that can influence spawning activity. For many of our freshwater fish, I believe that the amount of daylight or photoperiod is one of the most important cues. Because of that, spawning will tend to occur about the same time each year with some variability based on weather conditions, temperatures and maybe a host of other factors. In most years there is a lot less variability in the timing than many folks think.I should point out that there is a progression of spawning times for largemouth bass and other warm-water fish across Nebraska. Small waters in southeast Nebraska will have spawning activity first and then it progresses across the state to the north and west over a period of weeks. There may be bass spawning in northwest Nebraska a full month after they started in southeast Nebraska. While we are on this topic, let me make a few other comments about spawning behavior. For most species of fish, the males come early and stay late. You may see male largemouth bass exhibiting spawning behavior like territoriality, nest-building, trying to "herd" females, etc. a couple of weeks before any real spawning takes place. Every spring there are pronouncements that the bass are spawning that are often at least a couple of weeks ahead of any real spawning behavior.Never forget early spring is a seasonal peak for big bass, one of the best times of the year to catch big bass, because those females do quite a bit of feeding before the actual spawn." Bill Babler Posted February 24, 2017 Author Posted February 24, 2017 CHRIS TETRICK IS NOT THE ONE FISHING THE RC STICK. THAT IS THE 3RD TIME I HAVE SAID THIS, THAT SHOULD BE ENOUGH. Buster fishes the RC for Whites and Whites only. He fishes a megabass 110 plus 1 for walleye and bass. I believe the series of RC he fishes is the 90 or a 78 or some number smaller than full size.. Buster is sponsored by BP and gets a very good selection of BP gear with the purchase of his new boat each year. Here is the deal guys. All fishing guides get promotional products of one kind or the other. If you use them and your clients catch fish, they buy them. It is a simple as that, purely advertising. Everyone thinks touring pros get the goodies, but guides for the most part have very good factory deals as they put product in buyers hands every day. Some guides get paid for using products like the Pro's but most just get product. Usually a medium amount and anything over the freebee at manufacture cost. Boats, Motors, Trailers, Rods and Reels and every kind of fishing gear you can imagine and sometimes other stuff like bottled water and soda. Anything that an advertiser wants in the publics hands might get into a guide boat, if the guide wishes to have it. By the way, water temps in the back of Spring Branch today were 65 degree at 3 PM. Good Luck dtrs5kprs, magicwormman, big c and 2 others 5 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
