It was pretty rough on BSL yesterday, but like Ham said the fish were up and biting. For what it's worth, good raingear, full face motorcycle helmets, and a 20' Champion underneath you sure make questionable decision making a LOT more comfortable when you are running rough water on a day like yesterday!

QB and I both live smack dab between Grand and The Rock. It can be a tough decision which way to go sometimes. The thing I like is the diversity --- between the two lakes, you can fish polar opposite patterns in the same seasons.

And some of you thought an old right-wing conservative like me couldn't even spell d-i-v-e-r-s-i-t-y.

I will admit that for a right winger, you must have had some pretty good book learnin. You spell a might better than most any other Arkansasan I've ever met. If you keep up with it, you might even get to make your words in one of them newspapers someday.

I fished Stockton yesterday, just stayed in the river but still 3-5ft rollers in spots. Had great day and never seen a boat.

I'd guess that the dam area of Stockton was a no fly zone yesterday

Been a while since we've had our token democrat on the boards. Where you been hiding the last few months buddy? Went into a self induced coma after the election?Or the travel ban leave you stranded in a desert somewhere with no lakes to fish and report on? Good to see you back either way.

Well, contrary to myth, us democrats hold down actual jobs, LOL.

Between work, wife, 9 year old and 2 year old, Up until February I hadn't been fishing since last May. I've been lurking from time to time, but also really have been concentrating on weaning from social media and the internet a little bit, and since I wasn't fishing, I didn't have anything to post but "fake news" hahaha

In all seriousness, the quality of this forum, my radar weather app, and a handful of friends I've made while touring with bands over the years that I use Facebook to stay in touch with are the only things keeping me from trading the smartphone for a dumb phone that only does calls and texts, disconnecting the internet, subscribing to the daily newspaper, and doing my best to avoid technology.

I'm 42, and I realized that my kids are not getting the quality time with me that I got with my Dad. I loved climbing up on his lap and reading the newspaper funnies as a kid, and then I'd read the rest of the paper as I grew older. Actual words. On actual paper. Face to face time. Not living life through a screen.

Between working concerts and watching most of the crowd watch the show through the camera on their phone so they can post crappy quality videos on social media, and having a 9 year old boy develop a serious Minecraft addiction (if you have a kid that age, you know), I realized that I can't complain about my kids living inside a screen if their example is me living in a screen.  The internet is amazing, but it's seriously every bit as damaging to our culture as it is helpful, if not more.

It's only damaging to you and your family if you allow it. I've had the kid with the Minecraft addiction. Me and her spent a lot of hours building together. That's all it takes. Spend time doing with them what they want to do. My youngest has had all of this technology from the beginning. But it hasn't destroyed her or made her a zombie. It just takes a parent that cares enough to enjoy what they enjoy. She's not much of a fisherman, which is heartbreaking. :) But we have been having a good time with her recent passion. She received a record player for her 13th birthday, Now we hit the music stores in search of LP's. Then she posts her finds to Instagram!!

My son also has a preference to vinyl and got a record player this last Christmas. He's going on 17 and since he doesn't like to fish, it is hard for us to relate to one another. Except for music. He likes and appreciates his dad's 60-70's music, which is great for me since I am an music Neanderthal with the idea that all new music ended in 1985. He often tells me about the Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, or Santana album that he has downloaded and which ones he likes better. Back in the day (I know I'm becoming a "get off my lawn" kind of guy) you actually had to buy the album to listen to it. So I listened to what was played on the radio or on the few albums I would buy when not buying gas or beer. So he has a much broader range of music and even with the old bands than I do. So we can find something to talk about when he isn't engrossed in one of his games or I am not off some where trying to catch another minnow.

This is the key. Thanks.
