Walcrabass Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Just wanted to drop a line ( pun intended again) concerning something that happens a lot this time of year. People cull fish to "improve" their stringer. I believe if you check you will find that in Missouri unless you are a bona fide fishing tournament this is illegal. In other words when a fish is put " on your stringer" then it is part of your daily limit and cannot be culled. This practice can get a person in a heap of trouble. I don't know if you have ever known anyone that has had a friendly visit from the Game Warden to their house but I assure you it isn't a laughing matter. I wouldn't want to see anyone's fantastic day on the water ended with a fine and a thorough inspection of their boat, vehicle, and residence. This will probably make me unpopular....................... again........................ oh well.......................................... BilletHead Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 It happens and have seen and read where some folks have posted they do that. These same people may not actually know the rules. Thank you Walcrabass for passing this info to them. fishinwrench Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 They could always just say "hey I'm in a tournament, and weigh-in is in 6 minutes. Gotta go, bye!". I mean hell, there's at least one going on darn near every day. BilletHead 1
BilletHead Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Oh yes I forgot that Wrench it was a official tournament catch and release (to the grease). What really gets me is the guys stringers on steep banks that do not reach the water and the fish are dead and stiff and dried out or the bucket brigade with bleached out dead fish in warm stagnate water. Yes that makes them taste real good . trythisonemv Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 What about the gray area fellas (devils advocate here)? When a person catches only say a couple then decides they don't want them. They are still kicking and they release them because they changed their mind. I have seen this done a lot. Wonder how that would be viewed by conservation ? I have no problem with it on the grounds that they would've been wasted otherwise. tho1mas 1
Dutch Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Since we are giving personal opinions here. I don't agree with and wish they would do away with culling in tournaments. I see no reason for some guy who forked up some coins to be given any different consideration than those of us who haven't. JMO snagged in outlet 3, Daryk Campbell Sr, BilletHead and 3 others 6
fishinwrench Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 They need to quit hauling fish around PERIOD. But if they are going to continue doing that stupidity forever then yeah you should have to decide whether each catch is one you want to settle with for your daily total. Once you have thrown 5 in the box then you can just head to the scales. The last really good day I had, if I was in a tournament, I would have relocated 17 bass. The whole argument that "well we aren't killing them so we can do whatever we want" is BS really. What other critter can you do that with? None. I say we start having possum catching contests. We'll catch possums from all over, weigh them, then release them by Oneshots house. I'll open up a Possum Pro Shop ! ewlech, Johnsfolly, Seth and 3 others 6

Otherwise it would fall into wanton waste. trythisonemv 1
