Norm M Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 I am beginning to feel cursed by this weird crap that keeps happening . Today , I am fishing a decent sized pond , no one else there . A van pulls up and 5 teenage boys get out . Next thing I know they are right by me, I could have shook hands with the two closest ones . I asked them to to fish elsewhere as there was more than enough room . One of them replies that it is a public pond and it's legal for them to fish any where they want . I responded with that's true but common courtesy combined with being ethical folks as well as common fishing practices , they should give a person who is already fishing a good cast of fishing room . I noted the rest of the pond is empty so you have plenty of room to find your own spot . The same dude responds that they are not courteous , ethical or gave a **** about common fishing practice as I had found their fish for them . I told them fine , I'm moving to another spot and headed back to the car the long way around the pond . I figured I would hit another spot on the pond . Nope these fine young idiots packed up their stuff and started following me . With that , I just kept going to the car . They followed me all the way to the car and their smartass spokesman said I thought you were going to fish another spot . I told him I was, just not here .They then , jumped in their van and began following me . I headed to the ****iest spot I knew on the river for shore fishing . Sure enough they followed me there . I got out and made a couple casts and they moved in next to me again .I told them , f you , I am going home for lunch and you are definitely not welcomed . They got back in their van and followed me all the way into town until I turned off the main drag onto the street I live on . They kept going on the main drag . I fail to understand why they wasted all that time doing that when they were already at a spot they knew was producing fish . I've heard the saying don't leave fish to find fish but leaving fish to follow an old curmudgeon who has made it clear he does not want company around the county is stupidity in spades . what a long strange trip it's been , put a dip in your hip, a glide in your stride and come on to the mother ship , the learning never ends
Mitch f Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Unfortunately they need to be taught a harsh lesson. You were a nicer man than me. Kudos Norm Deadstream, Daryk Campbell Sr and Norm M 3 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Norm M Posted July 17, 2017 Author Posted July 17, 2017 There was a time in my life when the butt end of Mr Barreta would have appeared during the conversation . Unfortunately the way things are now , I would likely get sued for violating their civil rights if I showed them that now . Gavin Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 They probably got off on pissing you off. Break out the cell phone and call the cops if you see them again. Mitch f and Johnsfolly 2
fishinwrench Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 MDC spends YOUR money promoting fishing to those kids because they feel that too many kids have drunk or worthless daddy's, and the business end of fishing might suffer a deficit in the future. It is societal welfare. Harrassing someone who is in the legal act of fishing is a wildlife code violation.....so NO they can't "fish anywhere they want" if their being there is bothering you. Maybe you should write MDC a letter and suggest that IF they choose to spend our money introducing the fatherless little dipshits to fishing, then they should also spend an equal amount of time/money pounding some ethics into their skulls. Seems reasonable to me. Every year they have the MDC sponsored FREE KIDS FISHING DAY at the access near me, and every year MDC folk allow the place to be left COMPLETELY TRASHED. I guess it's not only free to fish....but all rules of proper behavior and care of the land are waived also. Why is that? Deadstream, grizwilson and Daryk Campbell Sr 3

Quillback Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Yeah that is weird, almost sounds to me like they were checking you out with the idea of ripping you off. Mitch f and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
MoCarp Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 LOL I'd winked at them and stared their ....licked my lips and said yum a lot....they would have left, but then I am 6-3 and about 390...If that didn't work I'd tied on a huge top water and made casts with an extra 15 inches of line from the tip, give it a little spin whip before I cast, the buzzing of the props before each cast would make some one well..twitchy....did that once to a guy at Caplinger Mills once who tried to run me off walleye fishing one year once at the pothole a boat pulled right up to the rocks, water turned on and that boat was banging like a drum parade,Well no respectable 18# walleye was going to show that night, so I played the best drunk I could, and loudly boasted to my bank mates how I could hit that floating beer can, now where the **** is that .22!...they left.... snagged in outlet 3 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 I had the pleasure of cleaning up after some pitiful people who used the swim beach before I got there Saturday. Sunday I show up and a guy is fishing next to the swim area. Crap all over the place and he's yelling at his kids that he is ready to leave. He takes a dead smallie off his stringer and throws it in the water. I was pissed but he was bigger and younger. I cleaned up his mess after he left including the smallie I had to swim out to and get out of the swim area. Then I noticed a couple more floating belly up. I guess he threw those out before I saw him. What a piece of shat Norm M and grizwilson 2
Norm M Posted July 17, 2017 Author Posted July 17, 2017 I'm in Illinois and we do encourage kids fishing, have free fishing days and harrassment laws as well . So the MDC gets a break on this one . I just did not think of calling the cops or a CPO at the time , I just thought they were idiots whose parents never put a boot up their posterior . When I got home my wife pointed out that I should have called the cops and driven right to the police station with them following me . I think I just proved to her once again that I'm not as smart as she is . Not that she wasn't convinced of that before . Deadstream, BilletHead, snagged in outlet 3 and 3 others 6 what a long strange trip it's been , put a dip in your hip, a glide in your stride and come on to the mother ship , the learning never ends
