I couldn't care less what music anyone prefers, as long as I'm not forced to listen to it with them.

It ain't just because they are "kids".  I would be just as disgusted if a group of old farts pulled up and started cranking Sinatra and Dean Martin tunes.

well I wouldn't complain if the old farts cranked up some classic swing but would if they played the sweet .

I kinda feel that as long as folks don't confront each other with a bunch of crap , things are ok . I try hard not to cause any one outside of poachers, litterers and such any grief .

If asked for advice nicely, I give it freely . If I see a parent who needs help with kids present , I do my best to make any suggestions to the parent privately . If the kids ask first , I always ask the parent first if it's ok to answer .  If it takes rerigging and using my tackle to get them going , so what . A few bucks compared to making some one happy and maybe getting them on the fishing path is well worth it .

I have done a lot of volunteer work in the past for my river and it's health and programs with kids . Right now , my time is being consumed with health issues . Once that is whipped , since I am retired , I will get back into the swing of things . I can also see myself getting involved with getting seniors more involved with the outdoors . I believe there is a senior facility associated with my healthcare system that has a private lake for the residents . From what I have seen it's underused . It would be a good way to give back to the group that's bringing me back to good health and bringing some joy to someone else by helping them do again what they were able to do before on their own .  Not to mention the joy that seeing smiles on their faces will bring to me .

Do unto others as you would have done unto you is a concept that should transcend any differences in any belief systems .

it's pretty sad kids as young as 11 or 12 are being diagnosed with cell phone addiction.

was reading an article about  how smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices can be very stimulating and so entertaining that they override all  natural instincts  children actually have for movement, exploration, socializing ect.

I saw a young girl drop her phone in the lake, she dove in after it  without hesitation, and then she couldn't climb back onto the dock because she was obese.

Her parents asked if there were divers  they could hire who would go down and get it.  They were willing to pay somebody to get  their daughters phone off the bottom of the lake because she was SO upset about it.

Man, I think the heat is getting to some of us.

If you really want to drive your kids crazy learn the lyrics and sing along.  Since I sing very poorly it would usually result in them.just giving in and letting me listen to talk radio.  While fishing I can listen (or more properly ignore) just about any kind of music, or even a baseball game..  I remember kids screaming and crying over Walkman and such years ago also.  Any way you slice it kids fishing is good.  Let them fish, take them fishing, if they want to go for a boat ride or swimming let the.  Especially with kids or folks who don't fish much it is important that they have fun and enjoy it.

see its Aholes like you that try to act or sound like u own certain areas of public waters, that make water sports undesirable. To me your attitude is no better than a jet skier making wake or bigger boats bothering fishermen

how is it an ahole to not want somebody fishing in a spot you want to fish. he didnt say to run em off.

a jet skier enjoying thier sport on a public waterway is an ahole because they prefer something different than you?

i think we found the real ahole

Not sure what the hell happened to this thread, but in an attempt to get her back on track....

I'm in my mid 20s, one of those dad-gummed millenials that can't get off their twitter boards and wouldn't know a smallmouth bass I'd it slapped them in the face (yes, that's an amalgamation comprised entirely of actual quotes from fishermen of older generations.)

Yes, some of us suck. I had a person who worked for me this summer, about my age, who whined the whole way to, at, and from Greer Spring because he couldn't catch any 4G data there and thus couldn't check Tinder. He no longer works for me, not for that reason but for reasons that are not entirely unrelated.

On the other hand, I know tons of younger folks who were raised right. Grew up working hard, maybe tending to a farm, maybe working summers in a factory. They work hard, love the outdoors, and don't complain. Same generation, similar background, they just had parents that didn't suck at their job.

Basically, people are people. Some suck to be around, others make the world a more enjoyable place. It has jack to do with "Those Kids These Days".

There really needs to be a discriptive word for people that complain about what others are complaining about.

The second hand bitching is what always sends a thread to the assylum.

 second hand chit
