As we were driving east on 44 from Springfield to STL Monday, we saw at least 50 trucks from various utility companies heading west towards TX. As with all disasters the utilities send workers and equipment to the area from other companies. This recovery effort will be huge.

I'm headed down to Conroe, TX, with Tyson Foods Thursday to serve meals for anyone who needs one. We've spent the last several days trying to find a good spot to set up that can handle 5-6 big rigs and 4 cook teams and with much of the city still underwater, Conroe is the closest we can get. But I promise you we'll set up a distribution network to get plenty of meals into the city to those affected. So glad to work for a company that is dedicating so many resources to helping these folks. Unfortunately, I'll be leaving my boat in NWA!

I heard Johnny Morris is such a bad guy that he donated like 80 boats or something like that to send down there.     Lots of Johnny haters out there

Watching the news last night, saw a Tracker in the background.  Lots of bass boats and other fishing boats doing rescue work.

We decided to not go at this point. Texas governor just deployed all National Gaurd in the state to help. Word is to get into the city you need help from the National or Coast Gaurd. It would be foolish for us to take time away from people who truly need help.

That has to be extremely frustrating but is most likely the prudent call at this point.

Even in situations of a much smaller scale, logistics, planning and organization is far and away the greatest challenge and more is seldom better from that perspective.

Many years ago, I heard a pretty wise commander make the analogy of sending a thousand people to your residence to "help" you clean your house.

Although they may be most capable and their intentions might be honorable, in reality their assistance isn't much help at all and actually makes things much worse.

Hang in there.  I'm sure you'll be able to contribute plenty when the time is right.

After a phone call from my aunt saying more boats were needed we left out Tuesday afternoon and headed south. The Houston area was getting plenty of help and the water was flowing towards the east so we ended up in Beaumont. It is crazy down there guys. We helped with water rescue efforts for 2 days and decided to head home yesterday afternoon. There is no food, running water, lodging or fuel left. The only way out of town was covered by 18-24 inches of water for about 3 miles. Please help these people down there in any way possible. It's worse than you think it is. I can't upload videos but I have a couple of pictures.

Good on you for making the trip and the sacrifice to help out others and glad you were able to make a difference.

Hope your family members are doing well.

The country could use a lot more great Americans like yourself.
