Flysmallie Posted Saturday at 02:14 AM Posted Saturday at 02:14 AM I came out of music photography retirement last Saturday night to go see some friends play in a big show. As I usually do, I started listening to the bands that I didn't know. It's much easier to photograph something if you have some understanding of what they are going to do and decide where you need to be for certain songs. However there were 5 bands playing that night so that meant I needed to listen to 4 of them heavily to figure it all out. Too much, lost interest, one band I never listened to anything. That band was The Descrepancies out of St. Louis. They were the last band to play that night. It was late, I was tired, so I was just sitting at our table while they were getting setup. I had around 1,700 shots at that point and thought maybe I would just sit this one out. Just as they were getting ready to begin I noticed a spot up front that I could squeeze my fatass into. I had a couple of short ladies in front of me so I had a good view front and center. I don't know what I expected from this band but it sure wasn't what they delivered. Definately an experience. Here's a little taste of what they sound like and some shots I got.
