ColdWaterFshr Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Arrived at Cardiac yesterday morning around 8. Temp was 24F and parking lot full. Suicide parking lot just as bad. Said small prayer and slid down the hill, fished for 3 hours. Landed 2 fish. 1 brown and 1 bow. Better than my last trip there which was probably 7 years ago. snagged in outlet 3, Haris122, Phil Lilley and 1 other 4
patfish Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 No kiddin!?!?! I've been wondering if anyone even bothered going to those spots anymore. The last times I've been the fishing has been "less than stellar". Good to hear there are actually some fish still around. Thanks for the report. Phil Lilley 1

Johnsfolly Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Its been a long time since I fished either spot. The best fishing was after there was a big accidental release from the trout park. Outside of that could expect to catch a couple fish only. Maybe a brown or two.
Ham Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Soooooo, why are you guys still going if the fishing is marginal? I’d rather drive hours and catch fish than fish close and struggle. I heart #FossilFuels Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Gavin Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Ham it's the closest river trout for the St Louis guys. Only an hour & a half one way. Current is 2.5 hours, 11pt or NFOW around 4, Niangua is 3.5 I guess. Arkansas or Taney 4.5 our so. Ham 1

I personally found better places to fish for both numbers, size of fish, and also more aesthetics. Makes it hard to go back to a spot that for me didn't hold that potential. I often think about going back just before I hit Vichy on Rt 63, but instead the car just keeps heading south ! Ham 1
Ham Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 During my Louisiana days, long drives were required to fish smallies or Trout. 3 hours each way. The 3 hours there was filled with anticipation; the 3 hours back was filled with smiles and satisfaction (and exhaustion). Eventually, I moved closer. I'm still living that dream of travelling 2 to 4 hours each way to fish good trout waters☺. Smallies are a bit closer. Ham 1
