Ketchup Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Banning anything never works. There will always be a way to get around it. Lots of smart guys out there that can and do make any gun part you need, in their home shop. grizwilson 1 TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
fishinwrench Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 My daughter made a good point today while we were on a bike ride. She says that nobody knows what to do, therefore they are attacking the gun owning community in hopes that they can fix this within their "family". At first I was like WTF are you talking about? But then I thought about it, and it's really no different than me dumping my frustrations of illegal gigging on everyone that gigs. I do that, and I do it regardless of how unfair and unjustified it is, because I don't know any other way to fix the problem. I want giggers (as a family) to fix it. They attack the entire gun loving community in hopes that they love their sport ENOUGH to make all the bad gun owners go away and stop needlessly killing people. grizwilson, Phil Lilley and Daryk Campbell Sr 3
fishinwrench Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 The other thing we spoke about was how the Christian community is handling this. Is it not possible that although it seems terrible and cruel to us, this is all part of God's plan, that maybe he is saving so many others by the elimination of a chosen few? After all he IS mysterious and there's no way that we can understand, we simply do not have the capacity to reason at that level. Therefore isn't it possible (even probable) that everything is as it should be, and no changes are needed? So many have prayed for it to stop, yet it doesn't. Therefore it must be going along just as it should. If God is real then one of two things is going on here. Either #1 He is powerless to do anything about it. Or #2 He doesn't want to. What other possible explanation is there? Bushbeater 1
ness Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 There are multiple sides to this problem, and it's a tough one. One thing I think would make a big difference -- and isn't getting much attention -- is securing our schools better. It'd cost a ton of money, and we couldn't lay the burden on the local school districts or the states, but we need to make entry into schools harder, and entry with a weapon as close to impossible as we can. We did it with airports, we should be able to come up with something for schools. I think we all want to protect our kids, and don’t want to wait to see what else might work A lot of the other solutions being talked about are either unworkable, impossible or don't have the teeth to make a difference. Al made some good points on the gun control, mental health and armed teacher solutions. Flysmallie 1 John

Don't stop there . . . lets bring back DDT, agent orange, lead in our paint, lawn darts, and about 400,000 other things. And hey, why not sarin gas? We need to be able to protect ourselves from the government and I'm not sold on that the fact that they've destroyed it all.

You can't get 3 ounces of water past the TSA but we have kids walking into schools with an arsenal of weapons. Maybe if schools were big business we would see a difference. You can arm all the teachers that you want. But the first time one of them kills an innocent kid trying to be a hero it's going to be all over. ness 1

Regarding the TSA -- it was exactly 1 guy that attempted to put some kind of bomb in the sole of his shoe and failed in his attempt. And so now and to eternity, we all have to remove our shoes when going through. But ask for a bump stock to be banned and heaven forbid! I talked with my kids this weekend about the high school they go to, ~2,300 students. We talked about the sheer size of the building -- all the many different doors and ways and opportunities to get inside. Kids and parents coming and going. And that it is one of many thousands of schools in Missouri. Seems entirely impractical and unlikely that we'll ever have airport level of security at our schools.

All of the elementary schools here in our district all have proxy cards on the doors to be able to enter the building. I'm assuming that would be a possibility for all schools everywhere. The only problem is our high school has several buildings and in between classes students must move between buildings to go to other classes. Really wouldn't work in those types of schools. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

Let’s work on the bump stock angle instead 😄 John
