NRA has been behind every gun control law we have, and they went on record in  favor of banning bump stocks.  NRA is no real friend to guns or gun owners, they are most interested in acquiring wealth through playing one group of uniformed against another group of the uninformed. . Fwiw, your thumb and and any generic belt loop act in the same way a bump stock does. It does nothing at all to make the machine work any different, the trigger still has to be moved.

Gun prohibition is the culmination of ignorance in solving social problems. What we are seeing with these mass shootings is the result of compulsory education and the many things that are involved in perpetrating/ propagating the idea that forcing children to attend school will increase their native intelligence. Truth is a college grad today is about on par with a third grader of 100 years ago when it comes to knowledge. But every participant  gets a ribbon.

Over population is a magnifier of our social inadequacies, for sure. But aside from the forcing genius to learn at the same rate as imbeciles and prohibiting young people from getting jobs and learning to work, we have derived a system of protection. It was mentioned above that kids are  not allowed to resolve their differences, neither are  adults; always the authorities must protect the weak, the stupid, the bullies, the criminals. I have no means of obtaining statistics but I think more than half the working population of the USA is employed in some form of police or enforcement role.

Solving problems introduced and fostered by socialism for the last hundred years or so will take a great deal of undoing, more than likely if the solution comes it will be with or after the anarchy.

Let them kids go bare fist at second or third grade level let the noses bleed and the lips swell up,  give paddlings  in schols rather than time outs reserve the time outs for congressmen and unicorns.

If, since the beginning of time, the human race has always had a certain percentage of good, bad and ugly and that there have always been madmen in the world,  isn't it true that we hear more about the madmen and the evil today than ever before? Never see headlines about  the kid that helped the old lady with her groceries,  do we? Yet this latest shooting was on www  before the first responders were in place. Think back, those who are old enough, in 1965 would this shooting (bad as it is) have garnered the media coverage that it has? I think more likely a wire service paragraph  and perhaps a follow up after the case went to court.

Point being that yes we have more violence, because we have more people. And we are more aware of the violence in the most remote  areas. Yet I think there may be little change in the numbers of the good and bad percentage wise.

Hard to follow your scattered arguments, but what I gather you are saying:  forced education, kids getting participation ribbons, not allowing grade-schoolers to fight, over-population, and socialism -- These are the reasons we are having these school shootings?  Did I read that right?

Now you've completely lost me.  Where is the emoji for model airplane glue sniffing?

Fact:  Evil is among us. Always has been always will be. And Evil is armed.  Impossible to disarm evil. The only way to stop Evil is for good guys with guns to fill Evil full of holes.

You can't ban hurricanes so smart people fortify our homes. You can't ban water so smart people learn to swim. When coyotes kill the cats you don't declaw the cats.
The bad news is that we are not going to stop Evil from attempting to kill our kids at school. What we can do is make it harder for Evil to kill our kids

The good news is that we can at the very least slow down Evil & potentially even stop it if we have the guts to do what’s right:  arm teachers who want to be armed and train them.
In every slaughter instance I know darn well there were Americans who wanted to be armed to stop evil but insane laws forbid them to stop evil.
We have fire extinguishers and other fire suppression equipment in schools to stop fires.  Why shouldn’t we have good guys and gals with guns to stop Evil?
Political correctness is a self-inflicted suicidal scourge of denial and dishonesty.
We put armed security officers in our airports, at our courthouses, at concerts and at our US Capitol.   Why not our schools?

If we say our kids are important, then its way past time to do something to protect them.  The solution is to arm those teachers who are willing to be armed and then to provide them the training to protect our kids.
Political correctness gets good people killed.

To summarize your post:  Evil is out there and all us good guys, especially teachers, should be armed to kill it.  Bad evil!  Bad, bad Evil!  Coming to a school near you -- EVIL!  Its impossible to disarm.  Why?  because its so evil of course!

The teacher/ coach/security guard that supposedly protected kids might have been able to stop this early.  Most of us remember going to school with guns in our trucks, hunted on the way to and from school.  Wood shop we refinished stocks from Granddads gun, etc.  Like Ketchup said, Political correctness.....

Did any of you cut your own switch?

Like alot of you, i also came from the older era where a gunin the rack in the truck was the norm, and NEVER a concern to other students, teachers, law enforcement, etc.  I seen one last week, guy was probably late 30's in Nixa at a signal, and sadly my first thought was "where in the hell is this guy from". Just not something i have seen since the 90's.
