Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 2, 2018 Root Admin Posted April 2, 2018 My service has been reinstated. I'm seeing some images but not all. It may take some time... I'm sure I lost some data. Just hope it's not as much as I am fearing. It is what it is though. I'm sure sorry about this guys and gals. 12 years of images may be gone.
JestersHK Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Silver Lining, we'll all just have to get out there and catch some more picture worthy fish! Gotta figure out how to get my avatar back though... Thanks for all that you do Good Sir! Daryk Campbell Sr, BilletHead and Quillback 3
bfishn Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Silver Lining #2 The WayBack Machine from the Internet Archive has been crawling this forum for several years. I just did a quick glance at their copy of the "What's Cooking" thread, and there are a lot of pictures and avatars there. If you're familiar with the Wayback Machine you can probably find anything you really need to replace there except for anything posted since the last crawl. If you're not, I'll you should be. At the risk of repercussion I'll add that it would be polite and probably appreciated if users would refrain from including pictures in a reply. Pictures take up far more of Phil's server space than text, and it's really easy to backspace them out of a reply. Not to mention it's really annoying to scroll thru a half page of pictures I've already seen just to read the smartaxx one-liner at the bottom. slothman, tho1mas and Phil Lilley 3 I can't dance like I used to.

BilletHead Posted April 2, 2018 Author Posted April 2, 2018 Just for grins I tried to edit a post. Deleted missing photos and tried to reload them to insert back into original post. While trying to upload the three photos got an error on each one. Well, I’m not interested in recreating the past by grabbing photos from the archive. As for quoting posts with lots of pictures, I generally edit them out. Especially if there are a lot, but I’d question whether they take up additional space. Seems like they’d just reuse the existing photo.but what do I know. John
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 3, 2018 Root Admin Posted April 3, 2018 Well, it appears we have most images back. I'll check more extensively in the morning but after reinstating s3 service in my amazon account, the bucket still has stuff in it. Praise God! Thank you.
