I already forgot everything you said, but I haven't forgotten that 15" Smallie.  I'm guessing that you fished the upper Glaize?

They were on Table Rock.

I asked the lodge owner what impact his business would have, if the tournaments and clubs would not book through him.  He told me that they accounted for about 40% of his bookings.  I don't claim to be the smartest person, however, I own a business and if I lost 40% of my business it would hurt.

He wouldn't be loosing 40% of his bookings. I'm an ignorant hillbilly and even I know that.

If he thinks that then HE is dumber than a sack of flour.  Probably only been in the resort biz since he got out of rehab and his uncle fell ill.  If his welfare depends on a few bass clubs....he ain't managing that place worth a hoot.

I guess if there weren't tournaments to fish none of these guys would go fishing or spend money anymore?

That would be a shame......

It's as if some think that without 70+ tournaments per month the whole industry collapses.   Wouldn't even be able to sell a rain coat because nobody would ever go out in the rain.

Definitely no reason or desire to go fishing if we can't haul them 15+ miles and "impress" everyone with the fact that....."OH YEAH BABY, WE CAUGHT SOME!  WE BAD!"  Screenshot_20180424-090231~2.png

the question is how many people AVOID fishing or booking rooms during a tourney, once I stayed at orleans trail, and found out they were having a big tourney out of there that weekend, If I had known I would have went else where for that weekend, when we booked rooms they neglected to tell us, so I am sure tourneys cost bookings as well...so many on TR I wonder how many people fish somewhere else...could explain the boom in kayak fishing a bazillion smaller waters you can have to yourself...an attractive option to be sure

I don't think any of the gasoline tax goes local, most anyway goes to highway construction at the FED level, and locals that sold gas in the past have said the profit was about a penny a gallon and the soda pop made more. Big chain gas station that profit likely goes to Europe.

Did you all 20 buy land on the lake? is that how you are supporting the schools? How exactly do they have schools in towns that don't have lake bass?

Yes, I get it. Some people are entitled to fish tournaments just because they are.  And you fellers that think it's unfair just don't understand. The good Lord provided Lakes just so Boat People could hold Mine's Bigger contests. How can one argue with that? Who cares if all the Homeless Bass die, the state must provide more bass, because, well just because.

And therein lies the biggest rub of all ... the state DOES NOT see fit to supplementally stock our lake with bass, so they are on their own to replenish themselves.
