What happens on the deployment, stays on the deployment.

Especially if you're not proud of it, hu?

I can't say "Thanks for your service"  unless I know what ya did, and why.   😕

Never have been proud about fixing planes that killed a bunch of people. They were despot Iraqi’s but still people. Folks stray when away even if they love each other. Not gonna get in that mix. Some women are loyal, some are out looking the second you boots are out of town.

Yep, I have one like that next door and there's 3 kids in the mix.   You have no idea how hard it is to keep my mouth shut and mind my own business.  Poor guy is inevitably gonna get strapped with alimony and $upport of 3.  His life is ruined and he doesn't even know it yet.   Good dude too, hard worker and truly loves his kids.  So freakin' sad.  😔

What I signed up for and did was defend your rights and freedoms, such as the right to a fair trial by a jury of your peers in order to keep you from being falsely accused of a crime and just being locked away in prison for the rest of your life, at a payable cost up to and including my life.  The reason, I felt it was the right thing to do.  Did not do it to receive a thank you and don’t need one either yet still proud of it.

I know you didn't do it for a thank you at the end, but you get one from me anyway. Our way of life that some take for granted, depends on the men and women of our armed forces and the sacrifices that they are willing to make.

I joined the USMC in 1970 to avoid being drafted into the Army and immediately sent to Vietnam after completing training.
It worked too as I never set foot on Vietnamese soil.  Did see it from the deck of USS Mobile and USS Denver and a mike boat from about 500 yards.  I tell anybody who asks it's something I wouldn't take a million dollars to do again or to have missed it.  USMC really did shape my life in a lot of ways.  Nobody owes me anything for it.  And like Duane, I'm proud to have served, especially in that outfit.

Twern't so many saying "thank you" in 1970, whole lot more would rather harass and degrade.
