I don't see how a guy being a foot further back has any difference on that play ASIDE from the fact that the Chiefs would have won the game by not losing the interception due to a ridiculous penalty in the most crucial moments of the game. Nobody except Brady knows if he knew that Ford was offside before the snap. It's really hard to not put most of the blame on Ford when the Chiefs had the game won had he not received that penalty. All they would have had to do was run the clock down. There were a lot of big if's in this game. If they would have had more than one first down in the first half. If they would have covered better. If they would have got to the QB. If they would have won the coin toss. If 95 wouldn't have been called for nothing. If Sutton wasn't the DC. Can't place the whole loss on one guy.

He was spot on at calling logical plays for the Pats to execute based upon the KC defensive schemes.

Didn't look like it in the beginning. But they took them into overtime, so they had their chance. At least they didn't need a horrible non call get them into the SB. Go Brady!

Everything that had occurred up to that point really didn't matter as the Chiefs were in the lead and that turn over would have sealed the victory for them had it not been for the off side penalty. That's why I put so much emphasis on it.
Seth Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 I'm really surprised that the game was a nail biter at all knowing how crappy the Chiefs defense is and the fact that they didn't score crap during the first half. The Patriots got to Mahomes with several big sacks and Brady threw multiple interceptions. Neither is typical of those guys. If the Chiefs could get some better defense, I think they could be the new Patriots. There offence is obviously loaded, but they are screwed if they don't put up a pile of points and even then it gets iffy. Flysmallie 1
Terrierman Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 I've been a Chiefs fan ever since there have been Chiefs. I'm used to this kind of thing. Seth and Flysmallie 2
ness Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Sure, Dee Ford’s mistake was costly. Every game is filled with hundreds of successes and failures. Where to line up is one of he first things every football player learns, and he just goofed. He also played a big part in getting us there. There was a play before that where I was sure the Pat’s nose tackle lined up offsides, but my screaming at the TV didn’t change a thing. Except the dogs went and hid. To anybody who says we were never gonna beat them: I wonder...if we played them 10 Sundays in a row would we lose all 10? Nope. That’s why we go ahead play the freakin’ game. The Chiefs showed incredible grit working their way to a lead late in the 4th quarter after an abysmal 1st half. To me, that’s the next best thing to winning. We’ve got nothing to be ashamed of. fishinwrench Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 I'm not a big football fanatic, rarely even follow it at all.....but I certainly noticed that the Chiefs hot new quarterback punk threw some pretty unstable and "headed into the cornfield" passes, while Brady's passes were like bullets directly to the chest of his receivers.
