Gavin Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 You can get a $7500 plug in electric vehicle tax credit for your Tesla. Did 2 today. Can get more if you install a charger. Not refundable. If you don’t pay tax you won’t get any. My high end is all over electric cars and energy credits. HVAC improvements, windows & such, solar panels. They have others if a vehicle is delayed in service. fishinwrench Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 Electric cars are pretty darn cool, but if you're in the camp that thinks that if more people had them then we'd save the world, don't forget to consider that it takes a considerable amount of fossil fuel to produce the components needed to build one. Mining and producing copper, steel, lead, mercury, various insulators, magnets, and doing lots of case hardening. I haven't spent 30 seconds studying any of this, but my initial thought is that they somewhat resemble wind turbines in the sense that it takes more fossil fuel to produce one than it can possibly save in it's usable lifetime. The end result being a push at the very best, as far as environmental benefit is concerned. Maybe they should begin by making electric bulldozers, cranes, dump trucks, kilns, freight trains, and semi-trucks first. Cars and other means of personal transportation is quite a ways down the line. tjm, Deadstream, snagged in outlet 3 and 2 others 4 1
