Sure there are some hurdles now but the only way to make it viable is to embrace it. Unfortunately those that stand to lose because they refuse to change have deep pockets and spread the ignorance. Oh I'm all for them and the more competition the better as it will drive the price down and the technology forward. GM actually made a very good electric car back in the 90's. some of my buddies worked at the plant that built them. Just look for a story called "Who killed the electric car" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_EV1
MoCarp Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Once batteries get better for range they will become dominate, yet today if you want to go from main to LA at speed I’ll take a charger or a vette any day, in fact I’d be there days before any testa, once you can transmit power wirelessly the combustion engine becomes moot reminds me of an old Rush song MONKEYS? what monkeys?
Flysmallie Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Why are you in such a hurry? There are planes if you really need to be there quickly. You can charge a Tesla in a little over an hour. That's with current technology! There are plenty of charging stations spread across the country. Stop to pee, plug in. Stop to eat, plug in. Stop to stretch legs, plug in. Stop to look at the largest ball of twine, plug in. It's possible. And again that's today. But if you must be tough guy then why drive one of those turds? A vette? Really? Maybe to buzz around town. But if I'm going on a road trip I think something of more comfort would be required. snagged in outlet 3, Deadstream, mixermarkb and 1 other 4

I probably wouldn't take a cross country with a Tesla, electric car, or gas car for that matter...but the majority of driving (outside commercial vehicles) isn't cross country. It's people commuting 20-30 miles to work, dropping off the kids at school, and getting groceries. Items that a 200-300 mile range would easily accomplish. For a buzz around town...I would absolutely take the Tesla....all that torque available @ zero RPM is nothing but fun. Flysmallie and snagged in outlet 3 2
MoCarp Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Sometimes ripping cross country is can be fun, used to make runs to San Antonio from south west Missouri many times and to Mobile/Florida panhandle over the years my best time to SA was 9hrs 20 minutes in what should take 12 - 13 hours in a hemi Dodge Charger and got 22 miles per gallon... powerful fun to drive cars are not for everyone, just like “dating”* women who make a living dancing for dollars. you can drive a Prius, date fuggly chicks, vote for the green new deal people and that’s your right, but remember how many environmental end of the world caca that has come and gone remember the hole in the Ozone? whens the last time you saw any of that on the news? So some if not most of us like eating steaks, not blowing money to just look like we are doing something about uncontrollable changes in weather we have a saying here in the Ozarks “ Don’t pee down my back and tell me it’s raining” MONKEYS? what monkeys?

Everybody has got to have the tough guy attitude. All electric cars are not a Prius. You can buy some that will blow the doors off anything Dodge could ever produce. Electric has more power potential than a internal combustion engine. I don't care for the politics you are trying to throw into it, I'm into it because all the way around electric could be a much better option. But that's where my background is so I don't expect you to understand. And before you start making jokes about guys with fuggly girlfriends remember that at least they have one. snagged in outlet 3, MOstreamer, Daryk Campbell Sr and 1 other 2 2

I mean that's only why we changed refrigerants and largely outlawed the use of CFC's right? Its a hoax though because we did something about it to stop it from getting worse. I used to drive to SA all the time for work. SWMO to SA is easily a 10 hr drive if you don't stop to pee at every intersection and don't get caught in major traffic in Austin, Dallas, NWA, Waco. Best part is is Tx 130 wide open low traffic and high speeds best part is I can go just as fast in a Nissan Altima and I don't have to blow all the extra money on a hemi so that I can puff out my chest every chance I get. Ultimately I fly now it takes less than 4 hrs to get there....I don't have the 20 hours in the car time....gotta get home to my fuggly wife and kid and get back to doing productive things.
