I know Champ can respond for himself, but I'll throw in my two cents. The main reason the Arig is frowned upon by so many good fisherman is that any rumdumb, like myself can catch big fish with little or no SKILL. This time of year it levels the playing field for all. There are many deep fish caught as well and most novice fisherman don;t know how to take care of deep fish. It just gives too big of a advantage to the Arig slingers.

While I can appreciate the sentiment, it took 23lbs to win AIA. I'll agree that the A-Rig will spot you a big one here or there on blind luck but 5 big ones for a winning bag on blind luck is a rarity. Blevins (the team who won) has won AIA on TR 3 times in the last two years (I believe). At this point I don't believe he is he just a regular "rumdumb". He's obviously figured out something that works. And in a tourney where all the anglers are legally allowed to use it, the playing field IS level...Until the guy that has put the time in and that has figured out how to apply it, goes to work.

I'm not trying to get into the tourney pros and cons here, that's been debated multiple times.

As for the fish care aspect of things, I get your point. The learning of fish care comes with time on the water. They can learn how to fizz a fish caught from an A-Rig just as easy as one caught drop shotting or ice jigging. And they will eventually learn, if it's the hard way or the easy way.

Jholder, you couldn't of said it any better! Champ188 I've kept my mouth shut for years seeing you post this bogus WHAT HAVE YOU EVER WON ??!!!!!?? You act like you're this high headed pro, dude you're on here posting pictures of a 10 lb ned rig limit??? Like seriously that's not impressive at all. An a rig is the most level played lure on the market, just because you throw it and struggle doesn't mean you should take away from the guys who have put in the time with it. What's the difference with a jig, or a crank bait?? You go down the bank chunking and winding a crankbait? Isn't that a dumb mindless bait?? Maybe It should be banned. I've honestly yet in 7 years to hear a valid excuse (besides from a pyschial standpoint) of why the a rig should be banned, it always boils down to nobody has one so they use the "I'm too good" "it's too easy" junk. If I'm spending my time away from my family I'm out there to catch as many and as big of fish as I possibly can, if I had to catch 5 little line burner ky's on a ned rather than catch many more numbers and much better quality on an arig I'd just stay home and watch the paint dry. My .02

to those that like throwing the a-rig, would you be opposed to allow trolling multiple lures at the same time??  i believe if the a-rig is allowed so should be trolling mutiple rigs.  they allow dragging jigs and c-rigs already.  and while we are at it, lets throw in using live bait.  now that would truly be leveling the playing field, and i would go for that.

The A rig is clearly a controversial topic and will continue to be. I do not believe anyone can pick it up and go catch a 20 lb sack in a tournament with it. Their is an art to it just like fishing any other lure or plastic. I myself don’t fish it and that’s my choice but I won’t bad mouth an angler across the lake throwing it, that’s their choice. I have confidence in other lures and believe I can catch the same quality of fish using these as an A rig. Let’s see what wins the big bass tour in a few weeks I bet a lot people will say the A rig. Regarding fizzing a fish I prefer to do it between the crushers and above the throat hole. It’s not a hard procedure and if you don’t know how I suggest you learn it especially fishing the Rock. Their are some good YouTube videos on this subject and a hyperdermic needle is all you need to do it. Tight lines.

13 outta 100 , I'd take that finish  anytime, congrats Sprint!

i think this needs to be addressed and considered by every angler who throws Arigs, and i will only mention this 1time and i'm done. i've already stated my opinion in the past about the rig. I'm not calling every A rig slinger a cheater but they do exist.

I worked at a dock on Bull for about 16 years. Was there when the Arig bite gained popularity. I can assure you there are many anglers who are using 5 hook rigs, or more, in MO on a regular basis, and a lot of this goes on during tournaments. If it happens on Bull, you bet your behind it's the same on TR.

I have been to dozens of weigh ins and have talked to a lot of , but not all of the check winners afterward, walked around the dock looking at the boats to see what they had tied on,  you wouldn't believe how many guys told me they caught their fish in MO , and showed me the lures.  there lies a rod w/ a double flash mob with 8 or 10 hooks all rigged lying on the front deck, or another homemade rig with a dozen jigs on it, or just running 5 hooks on a "normal" Arig. imo An a rig simply makes it too easy to cheat with in MO. i know AR allows more hooks, but is 10 or 12 hooks legal in MO? NO. A lot of times I saw this in small derbys with 20 or fewer boats, weekend warriors, ect. The larger tournaments you don't see a lot of rods left sitting out during weigh ins lol., but it still goes on imo.

it's not only tournament guys, it's the general population as well. They buy an a rig off the shelf, see that it has 5 clips , and rig all 5 clips with hooks TOTALLY unaware of MO regs ,or just don't give a darn about it. Many times i have had to explain MO regs for Arigs to out of state fishermen who "didn't  know" the 3 hook rule.

ps

if some of ya'll saw Champ in person, i doubt you'd be bumping gums to his face, just sayin...there's no need to get personal feelings hurt or all fired up about it,whatever the matter/feeling may be w/ you. everybody can post whatever their opinion may be here, like it or not. it's all good.

i get the feeling this needs to get back on track and not turn into another 10 pager about arigs, been there done that.
