What's up with long creek?

Help me out here, over the weekend I fished long creek from 86 bridge area up.  I have fished that area for 20 years with a lot 9f success in March.  Generally with the conditions we had over the weekend 50 plus water temp, wind, and slight stain, I can just about count on 15lbs.  I blanked up there Saturday in the AIA.  Tried all depths and techniques.  Crank, shakey head, jig, wobble head, and even a little a rig (please no comments..lol).  I committed to the area based on the shad kill I saw in brief ride around Thursday  from Moonshine to Old 86.  Didn't practice in other areas of the lake and just wondering what I missed as this was the worst butt kicking I have ever recieved.  

Anyone else have an idea?  If not I might have a boat to sell..lol

Same thing on the opposite end up Kings River.  I feel those fish have been picked off in the previous 2 bigger tournaments.  Another wave of fish should pull up in the dirtier water. Stay after em.

Fish were probably still suspending for the most part. That’s my guess anyways.

and there you have the definite effects of putting bass into the livewell and hauling them off.  no bass left.  it is not rocket science with all the fishing pressure that changes need to be made in tournament formats.  it is funny that catching bass in the kings remained good from jan. up until the tournies hit and poof not a bass around hardly.  don't even much anything graphing.

way back, we did not have the technology to eliminate hauling bass in livewells, but with cell phones and digital scales the bass tournament landscape needs updating, especially if the bass tournament really want to show they care for the fisheries.

anyway, glad you mentioned the fact that those bass that were there have been picked off and removed from the area.

I don't know why today's anglers can't just do like they did back when I was a kid and let the best story teller win. Lit lantern and all.

This is how Kayak tournaments do it, CPR catch- photo- release. That fish goes right back were it come from.

What if all tourneys were paddle/oar craft + CPR ? Would fishing get better over time or would they get over populated and stunted?

Some ding dong in a kayak tournament shortened his board so the fish would appear longer. Always someone trying to get an edge.

   I've seen many articles about examples of that.   CPR is a great idea, and there are a number of things that tournament organizers can do to prevent the "board-altering cheating", so it can be a good alternative to hauling fish around in a livewell.
